Xbox & PS3 NAT set to Strict, help
By Sharkbait84 •
Hi there, I live on the Pearl and have an X-Box which is informing me my NAT type is set to strict, this restricts my connectivity to my friends, has anyone in Qatar an X-Box or PS3 they play online with that has an OPEN NAT? The technician for Vodaphone connected the xbox to the wall connection and it was still moderate, is it Qatars censoring that is causing the problem????
HELP PLEASE!
Actually, no. I live in Qatar and I have a NAT Type 2. I use barQ as my connection so u cant really say that it ONLY works in the countries which u can get a Type 1 connection. :)

Tauseen, that trick only works in those countries in which you can get a NAT type 1 connection.
If you wan to make you NAT Open, you would need to do what everyone I know does, use the MW2 trick!
For this you would need to have Modern warfare 2.
Steps:
1. Load MW2 MP and wait for the it to contact the online servers.
2. No need to play any match, just quit the game and load your wanted game (like Black Ops, MW3 etc.) DO NOT CLOSE THE SYSTEM.
3. You will usually find your NAT as OPEN.
(Note: this trick has a 75-80% chance of working, if it doesn't work, then try a while later or restart your connection. Your NAT will go back to Strict when you close the PS3.)
Hope this helps :)
I have got the thing completely open now, I just went into the router's config screen and turned the firewall off, I don't need it anyways as I have and Anti Virus Firewall AND Windows Firewall and nothing private is kept on my home laptops. Happy days!
...but for some reason I STILL can't connect to my mate over in ZIG ZAG (I can wave to him from my apartment but not play him on XBOX, how silly is that!?)
sharkbait, with luck you can get a class two... class one? in your dreams!
Qtel DSL would be good..
ah, so sounds like moderate is the best I can hope for then?
I have Qtel DSL and can play Xbox easily with Open NAT but had issues when I was using Vodafone wireless internet.
It was more of a hit and try with Vodafone as disconnecting internet and live and then reconnecting again would sometimes give me Open NAT..not a guaranteed method :/
Switch to DSL if you can
Sharkbait, there are many reasons why we are having a class-three NAT connection, I am not familiar with the vodafone router, but I was able to open my NAT (through Qtel) from class three to two (open). Check by googling which ports are currently used by your gaming console then you can go ahead and open them manually through your router's port mapping feature. You must also add your game console and assign her a fixed IP address to the router, otherwise the modem/router would not understand to whom she should open these ports for.
I only have experience with PS3 and Qtel. Try to work your magic and please let me know how it goes, I'm a bit curious about Vodafone's internet service.
