Wrongful Termination
I came to Qatar in June 2008 to work for an exchnage house as a marketing manager. I also completed my probation period of three months. The management was very satisfied with my work and achievements. All of a sudden, I was told on the 4th that my employment has been terminated effective immediately. They did not mention the reason nor I have any clue why this happenned.
For last months I have been working for this company and they have not processed my RP. I have completed the medicals and pending finger print to complete my RP process. My company mandoob says i have 5 year visit visa that will be changed to a work visa after finger print is completed.
Now, I have been asked to leave the country and they provide the air ticket. Nothing else as far as compensation.
They are not telling me the reason for my termination as well. They want me to leave the country asap. I have asked them for 2 days to wrap up things.
I am a native of Sri Lanka holding Sri Lankan passport.
What justice prevail on my side?
Any help or suggestion is really appreciated.
The Immigration authorities are very strict about employees working without the proper sponsorship.
As what was explained to me, companies who keep employees not under their sponsorship will get penalized and pay a hefty fine for this. Even if you completed your medical but your fingerprinting not yet processed, it only means that your company's mandoop did not file the necessary documents or process/applied for your business visa to work visa THUS you are working illegally.
OR...your company has already maxed out their company's visa allocation and could not hire more. THUS, hiring you was illegal.
If you check your CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT, it is stated there that once (contract)TERMINATED, you are given one month notice and a plane ticket to your country of origin in accordance to what is stiputaled in the QATAR LABOR LAW of 2004.
This happens in Qatar, unfortunately.
I don't know what else to say.
