we live on the skin of a world, we know very little about what goes on beyond about 7 km below our feet (not an expert. correct me) what we think we know is based on theories and experience. IMO, the part of a structure even if reclaimed but attached to mainland is little safer than structures built on complete reclaimed areas far from the mainland. Really admired the gutsiness and bravery of consultants for such huge projects that involves higher risks. Of course, current development on modern techniques might perfect the design but the risks will always be there. The water is always unpredictable!
