I think that Qatar will do what Qatar wants to do the way it wants to do it...no matter what is signed, said or even put on international tv. As simple as that.

Wish you all the success! Rather than simply complaining to all and sundry about how unjust certain employers are, and how horrendous working conditions are for so many laborers etc, it's good to see some folks actually being so proactive in a truly noble cause. All the best and will certainly await the updates.

azamat, you won't get many supporters if you use a language as aggressive as you do.

you jumped on my comment like a cat on hot tin roof...lol

Kindly re-read my earlier post AND tell me who's comprehension needs improvement.

AGAIN...I'm speaking my mind, if you can't accept that...don't go personal. It's a web forum, and people on board agree to disagree.

Geez...talk about being on the defensive...chillax, man.

back to my comment about - Lack of basic comprehension of written english.

Just to clarify for the last time - this is not about how you or me help people on an individual basis in our personal capacity. This is about having a legal framework in place for ensuring workers rights. If you can't get your head around something as simple as that, let it go. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

your pants in on fire....but I wouldn't.

I would always help the people below the ranks...I wouldn't be up there if there are no one below the ranks. I would use my position to help others, but without compromising the Management/company.

i don't know about how your fellow countrymen help each other in Qatar...but we kabayans do help our compatriots as much as we can.

"For people who are in the position, especially in the HR, Admin and management positions.

They could help by making the other workers' life better by ensuring that all due benefits are provided."

They could, and some do. But that's not the point. And it's not their job (one could say) because they work under constraints set by the owners of the businesses they work for who aim to maximize gains while knowing they can get away with weak / rarely enforced protection laws.

The country needs to protect it's lower category of workers against exploitation. That's the bottom-line.

You and me? We don't give a F! We could get on a plane and get out if things don't go our way. But a majority of the imported laborers cannot. Do this for them.

but before we get hired, there's a clause in the contract about joining workers' unions or organizations.

For people who are in the position, especially in the HR, Admin and management positions. They could help by making the other workers' life better by ensuring that all due benefits are provided.

It's a petition. Looks like a noble cause to me. The title and the link is self explanatory. Read it, and express your support for workers rights.
