Women in Islam (Masha'allah)

khadijamathew
By khadijamathew

A British man came to Sheikh and asked: Why is it not permissible in Islam for women to shake hands with a man?

The Sheikh said: Can you shake hands with Queen Elizabeth?

British man said: Of course not, there are only certain people who can shake hands with Queen Elizabeth.

Sheikh replied: our women are more than queens and queens do not shake hands with strange men.

Then the British man asked the Sheikh: Why do your girls cover up their body and hair?

The Sheikh smiled and got two sweets, he opened the first one and kept the other one closed. He threw them both on the dusty floor and asked the British: If I asked you to take one of the sweets which one will you choose?

The Britisher replied: The covered one.

The Sheikh said: that’s how we treat and see our women.

That's True. Now a days in the gulf states very rarely they care about the principles and teaching in practical life and ignore many aspects and practices as prescribed in the book. The prime factor is the riches and ignorance to convey the teachings properly o the following generation. The Basic Concept of islam and the practice is just reduced speeches without practice. allah has already Mentioned in Quran that"when the man is bestowed with riches he forgets God and when he is in despair and misery then turns to God" "Man is a strange creature: when We bestow Our favors on man, he turns his back and drifts off to one side (instead of coming to Us) and whenever evil touches him, he gives himself up to despair.[Chapter17:83]

looking at the Qur’an text the potential is there for Muslims to achieve equality, peace and harmony within marriage and between man and woman, based on mutual respect, equality, love and understanding. The harsh truth and reality is, real-life in Islamic countries is far from the teachings of Quran, as is the case with most ideologies.

Except for verse 34 where it says that women have to be "devoutly obedient" to their husbands. And then it continues with what a man should do to his wife is she is not "devoutly obedient"! Men's rights, not women's rights!

Sura Nisa (Holy Quran - Chapter #4)is mostly all about woman's rights.

If read carefully one will find all answers to his doubts regarding the place of woman in Islam.

Sura An Nisa says something else about the "rights" of women! But, of course, my translation is bad.

C'mon the shaik didn't mean to indicate the woman as candy or Queen.

It could be simple explanation for the ignorant to make them understand.

Can any one describe the AIR?

Woman are given the best ever rights in Islam any other religion could give.

It seems bad to liberals because it prohibits the exposure to opposite gender to avoid adultry and sins.

khadijamathew, it sounds nice, but I'm allergic to this "our women" thing, is there anything about "our men"?

And the body cover up is not confined to Muslims, this notion makes it sound as though all Non-Muslim women are naked people walking down the street with nothing but a lipstick on, which is unfair.

Last comment, I don't like to be thrown on the floor even for a demo purposes. I'd certainly slap OUR MEN for just thinking about it...:)

All the best dear sis. I admire your conviction for yourself.

Where the hell did you here that the Queen can't shake hands?

http://www.royal.gov.uk/HMTheQueen/GreetingtheQueen/Overview.aspx

Anybody can shake the Queen's hand.

And women are not candy. We are thinking human beings with thoughts and feelings of our own. Not pieces of f-ing candy. Pathetic.

nishantvshah,

Tolerance is the attitude that should govern the dealings of all people with one another. Religious tolerance is an essential principle of Islam and Muslims are ordered to have good relations with people of all religions and be kind and courteous to everyone. Muslims are ordered by the Qur’an to uphold their promises and agreements with non-Muslims and not betray or transgress against them. The lives, families, properties and honor of non-Muslims must be protected under any government that claims to apply Islamic law. Non-Muslims are also guaranteed the right and freedom to practice their own religions in an Islamic state. Thus, it is not permissible under any circumstance for Muslims to mistreat a non-Muslim who has not committed any aggression against them; they are not allowed to harm, threaten or terrorize him, steal his wealth, cheat him or deprive him of his rights. It is obligatory upon Muslims as well to honor whatever lawful treaties and agreements are made with non-Muslim parties.

So how can you say that we treat non-muslim women not as humans?Any muslim who does so will be punished in Islam!

i never said i don't agree with the points above. I'm simply asking the sheikh a question based on the number of news events we see.

do you not see the number of abuses being reported from different countries, right from a victim of rape getting jailed to employers abusing their employees.

my question is very simple. Its great you treat Ur women as queens, but why not treat other women (non Muslims) as humans atleast.

kamranhussainka, i didnt say that Islamic Religion is teaching you the bad ways...nor our religion does. Seems you didnt get the point in the question of nishantvshah.

to close this issue, let's not talk about religion in this public forum...and please, refrain from posting such in here to avoid any religion bashing.

Thank you for sharing Kadeijha. It was informative,(: However there is already a religious forum specially set up for posts like this one so think this post 'd do much better on there.

And kindly refrain from posting any more religious threads on here in future.

Thank you.
