Will we ever be happy ??

britexpat
By britexpat

My beloved is American, so we are from different cultures and speak different language. Howeevr, we love each other.

When people see us together they stare. Why ?

Why can't they be happy for us ? Will love conquer all ??

I'm talking LOVE here.. I can live with the corny jokes and the sequined tank top, but you do have a point about the long, blonde, hairsprayed hair..

Aye.. "ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may titter, talk, snigger or even take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR LOVE!

Please don't shatter my world.. Who was this "wise American" who does not know of love ..

I will persevere and we will be together always, or at least till I get my green card..

are the ones that worry too much.. ignore them..they are ignorant...you are wise.. also

a wise American (oxymoron?) once advised...."a rose and nettels must never walk together the thorns become weapons to each others sides....." Maybe there is not hope for you two? I am sorry

By britexpat• 30 Nov 2008 08:14
britexpat

Not everyone thinks the same as you..

They see us together and think , what is that rose doing with that bunch of netteles.. What does he want from her..

They are thotns in our side..

vickyk1

You worry too much about labels....a smart Brit (oxymoron? ) once wrote..."That which we call a rose by any other name..." Smell and enjoy your rose.....

Language is not the main issue. We can communicate.. Her language is not that different from mine..Sometimes we use hand signals or even "brail"..

I can eat Pecan Pie and buckets of ice cream for her..I just wish people would leave us alone and not interfere or pass judgement.

By Mandilulur• 28 Nov 2008 13:56
Mandilulur

I feel your pain, brit, forced to eat pecan pie and the like (she shudders delicately.) Perhaps you should just make the ultimate sacrifice for love and adopt an American accent (the shudder becomes less delicate.) You could almost - dare I say it? - "pass." I know, I know, your life would become a sham and you would always be looking over your shoulder to see if someone would reveal your dreadful secret. But as you say, it's all for love (sighs romantically.)

"I would do anything for my Love"

Brit: I wonder where i heard that expression :)

Well, i thought you were kidding, so i hope you apologize me. All i can say is that you should worry about the 2 of you and if one stares too much, just tell him/her that she's pretty but she's yours or make some silly question like: "Do you wanna buy it?"

I think i know how you feal, just carry on living and ignore thoose folks, don't forget they elected G W Bush 2x in a row, so, they aren't that smart ;)

RP: I'm not including you as 1 os Bush supporters ;)

Why should you be bothered by the people around you? their stares? soft whispers? At the end of the day, it will be only the two of you working out your differences.

Count your blessings buddy..there are couples out there with far more complications in the relationship.

Buddy, I would do anything for my Love , even though she speaks a slightly different language.

You are right, I have been brain washed by Dallas, Dynasty, The Price is right, Jerry Springer Show and ofcourse the Dallas Cowgirls....

I look at Turkey as an oversized Chicken, so it's not too bad.. The Cranberry Sauce takes a bit of getting used to, but the Newcastle Brown washes that down.

Anyway Buddy, Have a great thanksgiving and enjoy yourself.

I have a got feeling that you are selling yourself to highest bidder.

How could you celebrate Thanks Giving day?

We all know that you are not American but British.

I'm confuse with this culinary business of British CITIZENS eating Turkey in Thanks giving, which is an American Holiday.

Probably you brits are being Americanize the hard way in accepting our ways at your own convenience.

Well, anyhow, Happy Thanks Giving and gut-en appetite Monsieur Britexpat.

Did you enjoy watching and listening for the last time, Our 43rd President George Bush, last Presidential Turkey Pardon? Dammed Bird got himself a first class flight ticket to a bird refuge in Florida. All this at the tax payers pockets.

They say that love conquers all, but is that true? Why are people cruel ?

In the end of the day, if you are in love then that is all that really matters to be honest.

In ten years time, (hopefully) you will be together and most of the people who "stare" will not be around. What is infront of you every morning and everynight is what should be important, i don't mean being in eachothers company 100% day and night, sheesh everyone needs a couple hours away from eachother, but you being together with eachother is far greater than any contrasting look could ever mean.

You are either on your own, or on your own with someone at your side (trust me it makes sense in my mind)

Ignorance is not without it's blissful qualities.

People will stare when it is something they either envy/want or if it is outright disapproval, niether of which should really worry you mate.

This is a society where looks are important, and everything should follow the status quo... sodd that, we need indeviduality here.

Fight the power, march over the bulls%^t.
