I am quite new to this region.
I wonder should call all Engineers, Engineers Wassim, Eng. Sayed & etc ?
Where I come from Engineer do not usually form part of the calling name.
my ex boss is a brits & he likes his staffs to call him by his name "Neil"... no Mr.Neil, Sir or Engineer Neil.
I wonder which style if proper in Qatar ?
Cleaner- Michel Jackson
Broker- James Bond
Killer- Rambo
with his name or brother
how will you call a sweeper? or cleaner? broker? killer? tottta tottta terrrrrr?
Zam Bebul laike BEBSI
some people like liquor, some people hate liquor
aome people like whatever, some poeple hate whatever !
some people like getting intoxicated, some people get intoxicated any which way they can ! ! !
most of the time engineers are confused with their work but they very sure about their title
It is a complex.
Mostly Egyptians are like that.
It is sad and funny lol
TheSurprised you are right
Amazing coincidence that you both have the same names.
recently i had a conversation with a clinet & i asked him his name.. he told me his name "Engineer Xyz" then he asked my name i told him "Snr. Consultant Xyz"
how u will a doctor or minister?
Its just the status inferiority some engineers feels(i have seen mostly arabs do that here) as compare to Doctors. Its a trend started some years back that they wanted to be called Engineer or Mohandus and now everybody has jumped on that wagon. Doctor's profession has been considered in a very high regard although that bubble bursts when you go to government hospitals in Qatar but i guess engineers are trying to reach that level too
Joe ..No, if everybody is using it,, it will be normal and OK :p
An identity crisis !
Can this be the reason or otherwise !
BABE sounds good, but colleagues will look at us like 'OHHHHHHHH'
Suli - duhhhh!!!!
Usually westerners doesn't like to be called Sir/Mr. and Madam or Ma'am. But there are some nationalities who wants to be bossy and love to be called Engineer, Sir, Your higness, Madam, Ma'am. :)
Suli- hahaha! "Babe"?????
Demeter ,,, Yes Babe ,, :D
Just call him 'Hey Man' whatever he is!
Just call her 'Hey' whatever she is!
That's it:)
I just dont want to offend people...
my ex-boss got pretty upset when his staffs start calling him SIR...
Now, i make some "engineers" upset because I didnt call them ENGINEERS !
bash mohandis.... call it when u need any favor from arabic pple.. u wrk will done
Engineer Ahmed, doesn't even know the meaning of Engineer Lol, there are many out there
Yeah storm, it's funny for me either, i was like 'whaaaaattttt is that a big issue' oh man ,,, The funny part is he has his own Pharmacy only.
It is all got to do with a title, I prefer being called on my name rather than a title. I don't need to prove to any1 my worth it is wht i do tht shows who I am. I actually spoke to some1 yesterday and ask wht is ur job title and he said he works for mechanical engineering and guess wht he was a helper, ( clean here, brush there etc etc etc )
frez hahahaha i m sorry but its really funny :-) ...
still be humans with some kind of qualifications ..
Adept to the culture ..
Yeah,,, i was on a conversation with a client, occasionally i called him Mr. in sudden moment he yelled 'i'm not Mr , i'm Dr.' oh damn what an a** h***!!!
i thnk its only in middle east and some part of Africa
well yeah its new for me too ... and at times to my surprise they are calling engineer to those who never even taken a degree :-)
I am an engineer ,, i told all the female employees here to call me "Babe"
Because it differentiates them from the techncians ...
