Why is Qatar airways flights cheaper if your start or end destination is not Doha

Hi

I have noticed Qatar Airways has a big price discrepancy in tickets. If you look to buy a ticket leaving from Doha to anywhere (return) and compare it to somewhere like Dubai to the same place, you will find the Dubai start (or end) is 40-50% cheaper - even tho it involves an extra flight and the doha leg on the same flight. I have tested this on many instances and found Qatar Airways is charging almost double for people wanting to start or end in Doha. I will never fly them again if they continue charging this way.
Any thoughts anybody?

i wish it was 500. for me it is working 2000 QR extra per person just to fly from Doha. Is that worth it???

All home airlines are usually more expesive due to that conveniency offered, it is their ionly competitive advantage. I would rather pay more and fly directly that pay 40% less and fly via some stops with unguaranteed baggage and personal safety.

I find it very hard to understand life. I probably can take my friends out for dinner and spend 500+ but i cannot add the same amount to my fare and have a safe flight? Think about it guys.

Yes i experience as well

when last April, i went to Doha to Chennai return, ticket costed me QRS.2650 but when my friend came from Abu Dhabi joined me in Doha in the same flight he paid only QRS.1600 return, it is really very strange, i ask the Qatar Airways office why the cost is so much difference, but they told me readymade answer " WE DON'T KNOW" !!!

In some of my recent trips - I noticed the same thing. But this really puts people stayin in Doha at disadvantage as on certain trips - we are forced to consider the airlines that is more economical. Personally - I prefer the Qatar Airways service.. compared to Emirates and Ethihad - they have got a lot better. In the past it was a different story - but now things have changed. But sadly - the rates !!!!!!!

fewer people want to travel on those routes, so they need to be discounted

I too once asked the same to a travel agent once

Apparently prices are all controlled by the state's Civil Aviation Authorities-CAA

In-Direct operators are allowed to give more discounts than the Direct Operators

I case of Dubai, QTR is considered as an in-driect operator, but when out of Doha, they are considered direct operators

Who, how this was worked out is one big avalanche confusion...

Hey champ...morning to u...and secondly...thats like the cream of the business buddy...a direct flight will cost u more than an indirect flight...bcos then quite a lot of ppl wud travel the airline, visit the airport, and it all adds to the Tourism Industry...the Airline Portfolio...the overall position of the airline based on the number of pax travelling and all that...its all a Game in the Air my freind...dont get into that...
