earlier today we went to villagio and entered throught he new section where two poesche cayyenes were parked(in the place of the ferrari and lambo in the photo). as we were passing by we saw a ticket stuck on the window coz they were parking in a wrong place. then as we were leaving we saw the lambo and ferrari parking in the very exact spot without any fine or tickets or anything stuck to the windows. is it simple discrimination becoz of the different classes of people??/

I've seen the traffic police issuing tickets downtown for "all" car drivers wrongly parked. By the Corniche, they specially stop teenagers to check their driver's license or warn them about car stickers or illegal painting.

So, your observation about the car stickers having been removed, might be right, but not a proof that the two fines were written off.

Oh, and I like the pic, good that you made sure not display the car plate numbers..:)

and maybe other 5 star hotels, the management purposely park the expensive cars right by the front door. The thinking is that it shows the classiness of the place. Maybe Villagio is following their lead? (Or the drivers now think they are entitled to park their cars where ever they want?

The drivers of both cars went into a wi-fi cafe at Villagio, paid the fine online, took the stickers off and went back in.

On weekends, you would enjoy the colorful car-park violation stickers on car windows. There is heavy presence of traffic officers at the malls, on weekends.

Note: Some drivers take the sticker off because it's annoying, I would.

cop came by and ignored ticketing the cars? It's pretty obvious you walked by and took a photo at a specific point in time. What you failed to do was take continuous photos over a period of time showing policemen ignoring the illegally parked cars. So your story has holes in it and you appear to be just trying to stir up trouble.

Get real.

I'm sorry, it's just a term one says to claim the passenger’s seat before others jump sitting there.

I use it A LOT, when I go for dune bashing with my friends here. It's the most dangerous seat in this game, second to the driver's of course.

The people who own those cars are rich Qataris who know they wont get a fine. Just like the dweebs who park in disabled spots with no blue badge.

They employ people who they know are sub serviant to them as they know damn well they wont do anything about it.

They are just arrogant tossers who think because they have money and other people doing their work they can get away with murder and parking violations.

if u r living in qatar from a long time,,then u shud know that its a habit of qataris to be on top ....

Some of us won't sit in the back, even when driven, especially our men, they sit next the driver, to emphasize equality vs. status, the latter is invented by God only knows who?!

My dad never sits in the back, always in the passenger's seat, next to our car or a taxi driver, back home.

A strange cultural aspect...

Arabs in general don't like to be driven or ride in the back..

They prefer to drive their own cars.. Which is strange when you have a Rolls or Maybach which are built for comfort of a passenger..

It has been my observation that many of the most expensive cars I see are driven by "drivers" and not owners. I always reflect on how kind it is for someone who owns a Rolls Royce to give it to a much poorer expat for his driving pleasure. And it is often the drivers who park at the entrance to Villagio.

You have to know that the Police Cars passes by from time to time. When they see the cars, they will put the sticker on its window and move on. A lot of people commented about how locals would just tear the violation sticker and drive off as if the sticker was the proof. I always immediately throw out my sticker and curse the a$$'s who put it, because they ruin my car window.

Anyway, I don't understand why when I drive over with my Cayenne, I'm not allowed to park there. But would I want to?
