Which is more commendable? Advising your friend to do something good or stopping him doing something bad? I would think the latter is. What would you think?

stopping him from doing something bad is actually asking him to so something good.

Are you drunk or just dumb?

and both should be done in equal measure.Even as Muslims we are advised to always enjoin good and forbid evil, as both actions bring much benefit, righteousness, peace and happiness to the world.

But I do agree with MM. Whilst there are some things that are considered good and bad by a majority of people in general, not always will everyone agree on what is considered virtuous and right and what's wrong and immoral.

to know good things will let him to stop bad things...

but to teach and advising a person good thing its much difficult than let him to stop bad things

(to stop bad things u should replace it with good things) or he will go for bad things again

Moltan....good is good and bad is bad ....it is not a mark of people it is about (i care) or (i dont care)

of course stopping him from doing bad is more commendable, but only for that moment. but advising him to do good will last longer.
