Where to get a good breakfast?

On the weekend I got a bad tummy from eating a Dairy Queen Breakfast. Not just me, someone else came with me and they also had a bad tummy. This is about the 5th or 6th breakfast I have had at DQ, and every time I go I ask myself the same question "Why did I come back here?". The staff are the most miserable I have come across in any fast food chain, the food looks nothing like it does in the pictures (ok more so than in other joints), and it tastes awful. Well this time having experienced a bad tummy, I will not be returning. If only Mc D'd breakfast wasn't restricted to take out. Anyway, where do you recommend for a good breakfast (western style.... well stylish) that costs around QR 20 - QR 30 per head and serves (not take out) on or before 7am?

Full English (minus the bacon) or American for QR15 that's what I have on Friday. Only problem is that it's for club members only other wise QR 40 entrance to the club unless you want to stay there for the day may not be worth it.

country kithen is absoloute rubbish, there are no decent places here for breakfast, as for Rics being simmillar to "western"style breakfasts, then you have never been to the UK USA! JG is as bad, overpriced rubbish. and who the hell decided that milk bread is good absoloute rubbish. I suggest if you want a good breakfast bring your own bacon and do it at home.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and is not to be trifled with (although a breakfast that includes trifle could be pretty cool). We’ve searched high and low for the best places to break your fast all over the city: strictly breakfast, no massive buffet brunches allowed. http://www.timeoutdoha.com/restaurants/features/26279-dohas-best-breakfasts

Mcdonalds by Hyatt plaza is open 24 hrs and breakfast can be dine in. I don't suggest you eat there too often though...it's obviously not a healthy choice. As for Rics country Kitchen...I wasn't impressed!

Best brekky is at my place (no delivery, no take-away and no invites): grilled hashbrowns, poached eggs, grilled bacon, grilled black pudding, sausages, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms, baked beans. Kitchen takes forever to tidy up after but OMG it is soooo worth it once a week :-))))

Once I am up to QR 50 a head, I would prefer to go to Paul in Landmark. Now and then I do like a Mc D's breckie for a cheap quick fill up, but early in the morning it is take out only. DQ supplied hot food, a filter coffee and a sit down. But whoever is in charge there needs to kick some butts. Miserable staff, crap coffee and food that is a joke, quite simply awful. If that place was warm and welcoming, had a decent coffee and an improved as well as cooked properly menu for breakfast, I think they would be packed. Mind you I will still go back for their banana splits every now and then.So Ric's seems to be the most popular with QLers, and that is where I will be heading this weekend. I will report back with my findings. It's nice to have a change from porridge, which is what I breakfast on the rest of the week, and it's nice to sit down, relax (no washing up) and enjoy the start to a great day off ;)Thank you everyone for you valuable input.

TB, a "good" breakfast is the one you make for the one still in your bed. Or it is the one you get while you are still in bed. Neither McDonalds nor any other outlet in Qatar will provide that!!

@ timebandit, I've eaten b'fast @ Mcdonald's on a Friday morning,so don't know about the takeout only thing...although if it's western b'fast you want,no beating Ric's,cardiac arrest on a plate, perfect way to start a Friday/weekend! they do b'fast platters or individual stuff like pancake stacks, stuffed omelettes etc...location is posted above courtesy aqquib...another option, just down the road from Ric's,100 metres or so,on the corner is JG's sandwich cellar, they do a pretty decent English brekkie,b'fast in a bap, nice omelettes,etc....they open early, not sure about 7am,do call & check before heading there...another good option(although more expensive) is Dean & Deluca @ Villagio, again probably open around 8 or 9 & will cost closer to 50-60 per head but worth the occasional splurge...agree fully about the Dairy Queen experience, miserable staff...& it tells in the crap they dish out...DQ used to be the late night place, now with both Mcdonald's & Hardees open late, even that's out...

Considering you eat breakfast at Dairy Queen and McDonald's, it really shouldn't be that difficult for you to get some decent breakfast. Try Ricks Country Kitchen near Sana roundabout, or Taxi Hotel in Muntaza.

Rics is good and so is JG's Sandwhich cellar(Ras Abu Aboud). At least it was the last time I wen't there. I also recommend the breakfast buffet at the Gulf Paradise Hotel. From what I remember it was around 30R and of a decent standard too.

1- Chop some banana slices alongwith strawberry in a bowl and keep it in the fridge in the night..morning time add milk sugar and cornflakes and eat it....2- Go to Hardees and buy few grilled chicken burgers in the late evening and keep them in fridge...morning time just heat them in microwave for 1 minute high...tastes delicious...3- Do same with pizza or Mc Donalds special burgers...4- Try some do it urself omlettes with plain toasts and orange juice in ur home5- Trust me best breakfast should be taken at home because at the eateries u are not sure that whether cooking staff is taking proper hygience care or not..after all they are the most low paid persons...everywhere...even in the ***** star hotels.6- Better start taking fruits, omlettes and fruit juices in the morning......7- If all this not work THAN go to Qatar Airways main tower...on the side road of it there is small tea stall name is Banuche...he gives a nice omlette roll and mixed fruit juice and it will cost u around 8 Qrs...Dont get addicted becoz it is very tasty...8- Ok u can try Prestige hotel too for some awesome idli-vada or puri sabzi Indian style... rest is your luck...
