When will parents learn ?

May the little one rest in peace.

Parents can make the silliest of mistakes and it can have horrific results..

please be careful and think...

A two-year-old boy has been mauled to death by a pack of ravenous African wild dogs when he fell off a railing his mother put him on to view the animals at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium.

Desperate rescue attempts by zookeepers and armed police officers could not deter the 11 aggressive beasts as they savagely attacked the child on Sunday morning.

Zookeepers fired darts and a police officer opened fire, killing one of the African painted dogs, an endangered animal, but rescuers still could not reach the boy in time.

Lt. Kevin Kraus of the Pittsburgh police described the accident as 'horrific.'

And tragic. Though what she did was obviously a grave mistake(one that will now haunt and torment her) I refuse to judge the mother with great harshness cos I know, as a mom, that their are times we do things at the spur of the moment, never anticipating any great tragedy. We mom's are human beings after all, prone to making errors and yes sadly some of those errors may result in more harm than we could have ever imagined.

May God grant the baby paradise..Aameen. Truly he is in a better place today than his poor suffering mom. =(

Just saw a news report on it. Apparently the fence around the enclosure is only 4 foot high...There are an awful lot of kids that could easily climb a four foot high wooden fence. I think this zoo is lucky something like this never happened before.

"without thinking of what might happen" mystery solved as she was mentally retarded she cldnt think

BADU that is a comment only you can say....You never think before you post!!!

Many ppl dont think anything will happen to their children if they hold them while driving or leave them without safety seats!!! One Second is all it takes for a mistake to happen that costs a child's life. Does that mean every one is mentally retarded?????????????????????? no, it means they just dont think of the what if's!!! Then to late!!! CRASH

God Bless the child, and the mom will have to live with this one second of bad judgement for the rest of her life!! That's it.

Peace

I found this in the Guardians account:

"In May, some of the dogs escaped into a part of the exhibit that is usually closed. The zoo was on lockdown for about an hour as a precaution."

So it sounds like there were already some issues with this enclosure.

look at the pic's in the news article..there is a 11ft drop behind the fence so the dogs cant jump it,.fence itself is manhigh from the visitors point of view

By Miss Mimi• 5 Nov 2012 13:30
Miss Mimi

I think the drop was 11 feet but the visitors stood on a raised platform.

How did the woman manage to put the kid on top of an 11 feet high railing?

Or was the drop 11 feet but visitors stood on a raised platform :-/

She didn't put him OVER the railing, she sat him on the railing, so he could get a better view. You see people do it all the time, without thinking of what might happen.

Well yes Brit, some common sense should be applied. However, I seriously don't remember ever seeing an zoo enclosure were you could just "jump in" with dangerous animals....

I hope the zoo isn't now going to be held responsible.

you can take security only so far. this is a tragedy and hopefully, other parents will learn from it..

tinkerbell10 : Because she is irresponsible mother. The police should of shot her instead of shooting at the poor dogs.

i doubt careless parents could ever "learn". :(

It was the mother's fault. The wild African dogs were only doing their job.

Just a point though..has anyone actually been to a zoo where you could place a baby on railing above dangerous animals? I don't think I ever have....

By cracydutch• 5 Nov 2012 11:28

the should not be parents in the first place,... news like this "is raising the hairs in my neck" .

like all these morrons of "parents" here in town who drive there kids arround not restraint or in the matter not even sitting in there seats while the use the seatbelts op front,..FINE THEM ALL BIG TIME what happens if you get in a accident,..same result as what happend to the kid in the zoo,.. kid is being slaugterd (smashing the windscreen with his head at least)
