What Winter teaches us

Hey there all! Good morning!

Came back to a really chilly spell of winter here... Boy, its freezing (though not like Antarctica-freezing!)

I was at the airport then, when I saw a mother holding her child and keeping her warm by embracing her. The Girl was dressed up in her woollens, but yet, it was the warmth provided by the mother that must have soothed the child.

I guess this teaches us that the human touch and emotions have powers far greater and unrealised potential.

What else can fellow QLers offer and can think of when it comes to learning through Winter? What have you learnt or have come across a piece of wisdom, during the winter season.

Cheers!:)

Don't let winter get you down. Spend it in the warmth of a loved one.

Luxury.. I remember when we were little. We were so poor that in winter we used huddle round a candle to keep us warm.

And if it got really cold, dad would light it :O(

Rizks it is true, I do have my own built in thermal insulation. I am wearing a short sleeve shirt today, and as I walked into the office I couldn't help noticing people wrapped up with scarves and thick jackets outside watching me walk in. Either they were thinking look at that really handsome guy, or they were thinking why is this mad Westerner wearing a short sleeve shirt. Of course they could also be thinking other things like, look at that fat barsteward. Or I wonder what is for dinner today? Who knows, but my money by the look in their eyes was; What a lunatic, why isn't he frozen blue?

Its about interpretation and visualization... Not about applying logic...

Winters in Middle East countries teach us not to waste these pleasant times in bed or at work..if you can get out and go about, this is the time to enjoy oneself.

My general piece of wisdom says take care to keep yourself warm so as not to catch cold....the naughty one says don’t be alone as it is cozier under the blanket in company.

And agree with Segmund... the powers of human touch and emotions don't have anything to do with winters.

TB,Temp diff is some thing you feel and relatively speaking right now is chilly compared to 50+ degrees in summer... what do you do then?

......I 've learned that a call for hibernation exists in the Human Species as well,....my bed and comforter suddenly got magnetic!

This is not winter. I have never seen anything frozen naturally in Qatar. In the UK we would be sunbathing in these blisteringly high temperatures. It's 16 degrees right now and I am off to buy an ice cream to cool me down.

I think it is a faultly logic that you have applied there. Whether it is chilly cold or sizzling heat, the touch of the mother would have been equally soothing for the kid. Motherhood has nothing to do with this cold, in this particular instance.
