What will I do, need your advice?

It's been 10months now since I was hired as Accountant in my country.  At first I have full of complaints with our company's management but Im kinda happy now.  Here's the catch...  Through a website I get to know this Chief Engineer here in Doha and able to introduce to my GM and MD and became our client for media tools (like flyers, banners and the like).  This July or August we will launch a lifestyle magazine... I was asked by my bosses to do marketing also for our company's business (solicitation for possible advertisers and companies looking for corporate gift items) besides my accounting functions.

Though there is no pressure on my shoulder (and I am happy for that) but still there is a feeling that I dont want them to be disappointed in me. What will I do, just do my accounting functions or do both?

----  INSERTION (please allow me) ****Im appealing to all marketing, promotions, advertising employees of companies looking for and interested in placing an ads in our magazines, PM me and i'll set a meeting with you.***) ----

Your suggestions would be a great help? Thank you

Marketing is always thrilling job; I experienced both the pressure and trill. You will reach in a stage, there you can convert the pressure in to result, then you will succeed in marketing.

Once you will start getting result your confidence level will increase you don’t need to turn back, but in the initial stages you have to work hard. Always target the right spot, prepare a data base as per your need and make a plan go as per that, then you can save time, and upgrade the database based on the response from the market.

Once you work systematically you will get the result. Doha is a small market and competition is less so it’s suitable for the beginners & for experiments.

hi fiery...im into marketing, construction companies target ko due to nature of the products. if theres anyway i can assist you, dont hesitate to let me know. and maybe i would need your services too..

i dont have pressure also with sales quota. im dealing into project basis kaya lang under procedure pa lahat wala pa approval. its a long process and need hardwork! but im sure its goin to be worth it. from this work, i can say my capacity has been tested. i had my share of struggles and almost backing out..long story...anyways my sound advice, go what your heart says and you'll never be wrong!

good thing about doing this marketing stuff is that the management dont put pressure as no sales quota and whatsoever. Its just that even there is no pressure, there is a part of me saying go, i mean self fulfilment if you closed deals.

btw, you're into marketing din pala... bigyan mo ako ng raket... *lol*

fiery if you decide to do both jobs, be prepared to face all obstacles. then dont forget the basics know your priorities and getting to know your strategy, how to juggle important things. its also better to talk to your boss and draw the line between your accounting job and marketing job to avoid any blaming along the way.

be positive you will be learning so much things rather than continuing the same job until you get fed up...

...but you'd love to do it as you know you'd be good at it and also know that it will dig into some of your personal time, so ask for commission or a higher remuneration.

First, as an accountant what are the things that you do?

Consider the things that could affect your duty as an accountant! if you only do payroll or budgeting then I think it's now time to explore. Marketing is very interesting field you can met different types of people and it will enhance your communication skills. It will also provide you better opportunities then because you are learning and you also becomming flexible.

Marketing is an art. There you could squiz your mind like knowing what are the most important things to consider to attract clients thru the presentation of your product and also you test your convincing power. Being in a marketing profession, its time for you to create another world not just numbers like accountant job.

Nkakabobo kasi minsan pag numbers lang yung inaatupag mo! parang nag crave ka ng bago yung hindi ka pumipirmi sa isang lugar so yung marketing gnun yun....

Talk to your boss kung anu yung scope ng pagiging marketing profession mo kasi malawak yung marketing bka apektohan yung pagiging accountant mo.

that is very good two birds in one shot...here is my question? Do you have car? or your company will surely give you driver and car to go there and here to meet clients to to go back for accounting works and blah and blah... Having a car in that kind of career is very necessary..

If you can handle the extra duties with no problem, go for it. Think of the experience you are gaining and how good it will look on your resume.

However, if you feel it will become too much for you speak up. let yr bosses know.

Good luck.
