Hi All,

I am very confused person with lots of questions araising in my mind very often and I have learnt that QL members are the right people to give me some solution in such cases. As we all know friendship has no boundries and friendship develops during anytime of life.Being an expatriate for seven years now in different countries,I have made some wonderful friendship in all countries I have worked. But when I let that country my friendship formed there with people becomes thin and eventually it fades away,Even though we try contacting our old buddies through phones and mails,Why?Is it because we strangers from different countries? Then,What exactly means friendship?

I have given much value for people I care and love,And always concerned about their well-being than mine. But once we depart eachother for long time,it really forgotten. So,I am really confused what friendship means?Anyway,I am working here In a job were I have no real friends because friendship is different from work mate relationship. How and where can I find some like minded people for friendship?Internet searches are money eating process and can never find a one. So,Anyone have any idea on how to meet people here in Qatar before deciding to start a friendship?Any specific place around in Qatar where I can find good friends.

I believe that what you have had are "aquaintances" not true friendship. "Genuine" friendship is based on mutual feelings, sharing and honesty among other things. I have had friends for years that I still talk to and share our lives, and I have had acquaintance's that have just passed through. "Genuinefriend" a true friend is one that you can call upon for anything and know that they will be there.  If you have "5" people in you life that you can call upon for anything and they are there for you then that is true friends.

I would try to be your friend but you keep asking what the definition of friendship is.  You say that you value people but do you value yourself first? This leads me to believe that you do not value friendship or relationships.  This all seems phoney to me and brings to mind that you are doing this for attention.

As Salax said how can you call yourself "Genuinefriend" if you don't know what the meaning is.....................friend

lol salex.. your post really made me laugh.. ha ha ha

Those are some good observations I must admit..

I've learned to take everything a person says with a pinch of salt. Alhumdulilah.

And I have been too much part of the whole diplomatic, nice to everyone and lets make as many friends as i can so I can network myself and move up the food chain mentality.  Mind you not because I like this type of mentality but because I'm dragged into it by cultural obligations.

Whatever the posters intentions, at the end of the day, are his own though. So I won't be making any judgement calls. Unless it becomes more obvious than it is now.  Perhaps he is really sincere? Only time will tell!

friendship can be a spur of a moment. you meet this stranger and he can be your friend for the rest of your life. however it can be also a long process, getting to know someone for a longer period of time until you would consider him as your true friend. this is one of the mysteries of friendship.

well i really hope you can find a real friend here. coz it surely means a lot when you have a confidante.

As far as I know... friendship means different things to different people.

It sounds like your a very loyal person who values the people you meet and love them very deeply. I pray you meet like minded people such as yourself who will value you as their friend.

Welcome here. Maybe you can find friends through this site. If you can join meetings from this site and then you get to meet new people and then you choose your friends.

But just know that friendship can not be pushed. It grows and takes time. And it works both ways. Not only from your way, the other person has to make the friendship work ass well.

Goodluck :):):)
