'What happens in Qatar, stays in Qatar'

anaana12321
By anaana12321

Qatar is a transit place where people simply come and go for job opportunities...everything that happens outside work is a mere entertainment!

before i used to ask why people go for extra-marital affair and why there are so many play boys and play girls esp in the mid east. i used to judge them until i came here and saw the real thing.

sometimes, u cannot understand something unless u get to be in that situation. when i came here, i saw how people fight homesickness and how they strive hard to earn.

it is in human nature that we always look for things that would satisfy us and we all have different ways to be satisfied.

what i notice is that majority of relationship that builds here has the intention of 'using' one another in some way. for instance, a guy who longs for his wife back home would seek a companion here and a woman who doesn't make good money would find a sponsor to buy what she cannot afford for herself then they'll find comfort with each other coz they can both satisfy each other's needs or i can also set a simple example...pleasure! im sure i don't need to further explain it;)

relationship in this kind of place is temporary. no one would ever dream living here all his life so we are all here for one reason - to work! thus, relationship here usually lasts when the work contract ends and that's i think is emotionally training us not be emotional.

expats in mid east are usually have strong emotions and i believe that it is because of their experiences. they are very firm and they don't get easily attached coz they know that soon another opportunity will knock their door, they will have to step in a new world again so they will soon leave everything they have here.

for many, it all happens here and ends here as well...

Most of ya'll people are not as well traveled and experienced in working in other countries. So your input is not really valid. You know who you are. But anaa is 98% right.

Their is a small percentage that have better lives here and create Qatar as a home. Which is great for whomever. But mainly Qatar is a working country for a time being.

I'm speaking for expatriates. Not locals. Mostly locals are closed minded. Sorry people. Not meaning to speak hated but only speaking what is true by observation and conversation.

"Qatar is a transit place where people simply come and go for job opportunities." This may be true for many, but not for all! I came here to LIVE. And I might stay here or anywhere else in the world. Because "the world is a transit place where people simply come and go"! As you can see with Ghaddafi and Mubarak!

again I ask, how many "saints" are really sinners. And there to join this discussion as knowing nothing? It is really hard to accept reality if you are in denial!

It's funny how judgement (for some) would always be driven by nationality or gender.

Why worry so much about what would happen in future? Just indulge in here and now. Oh tell me lovers in Doha. You won't live here for eternity. Would you be concerned of a departing loved one. Departure could be in soul and physics. Tell me how many married couples who are living under one roof for years and they live worlds apart.

In relatioship, “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” Long live my beloved Ibn Al Rumi.

For one passing moment, whether you are an expat or not, connection to another human being is to be connected to who you are. For that matter,Carpe diem

For those who are not familiar with the term Carpe Dieam, here a nice explanation:

'the phrase is part of the longer Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero – "Seize the Day, putting as little trust as possible in the future"'

anaana No its not that.. Its because it does'nt happen here or should not happen here. maybe they are thinking that you are looking for a commitment? lol

By anaana12321• 23 Oct 2011 09:36
anaana12321

yeah, what's wrong with that? it says 'how about visiting matching site?' lol.

my question was 'why men are afraid of commitment?' what does a matching site has to do with it? lol

i guess the mods misunderstood it coz of the term 'commitment' so maybe they immediately removed it without even reading the content.

GodFather.

So Anaana what is your conclusion? Is it a good a thing or a bad thing?

By anaana12321• 23 Oct 2011 09:05
anaana12321

definitely no. im referring to no particular nationality as it goes to everyone.

i don't think that what i wrote above is about being pessimist coz i simply justified the things i used to judge before.

and nah...it's not justifying my own action;) i still easily get attached by the way.

By s_isale• 23 Oct 2011 08:50
s_isale

is it specific to a particular group of nationality/ies?

By ahassanein• 23 Oct 2011 08:31

pretty good analysis but yet so pessimistic and desperate, especially from a (filipina)!! haven't u noticed some who met and married here in qatar, I'm not talking about races but happens that i knew cople of philippinos who met, married and lived happily here, despite injustice in some regulations of the country that can b real obstacles or "excuse" for having short tirm fling or whatever, but they made it work..

and no u didn't describe the middle east, u've only described a normal "unfaithful" expat attitude, and qatar never represents the middle east in general

PLEASE BE POSITIVE :)

In a meeting with the management, a colleague of mine asked for additional perks. The boss said " Now that we are giving you a family visa and a 2 BHK acco, do you want us to give a family too. Just find your own family and do whatever you want if you don't wanna bring your wife here.."

By wirehead• 22 Oct 2011 18:46

yep, it shocked me at first to learn that the stuff movies are made of are actually happening here. even more shocking when i learned that some of my friends are doing it too. i mean, they're all good people and all. i didn't expect that they would get involved in situations like this. like everything here, you just learn to accept and live with it. i do understand and feel the extreme loneliness they go through that makes them do such morally unacceptable behavior.

i don't want to be like them though. i hope i never end up like them. my mother doesn't deserve a daughter like that. i don't want to be a snatcher in this big quiapo ;P

Indeed, two people satisfying their respective needs. Personally speaking, I sometimes worry though that what starts as a simple functional arrangement might in the end be more to one or the other person - and the process of resolving this when there really is no long term basis can be painful. Is it justifiable hurting another person for personal satisfaction or materialistic gain? Maybe is if you are blatant enough about it and it makes you happy at least for a while. Thanks for your upbeat message - helps me to stop being so fussy and worried.
