What is happening?/a jail?
Dear all,
I am new to this site and registered with the purpose of posting this story. It's very recent and of course, actual.
A dear friend of mine (English female) has been on a business trip in Qatar, that was supposed to take 4-5 days. All went smoothly but on her way to the airport some recklessly driving local crashed into her and got himself killed.
This happened in September this year and her parents needed to get her out on bail. Her hearing was at the beginning of October, after which she was sure to come back to England.
Sure she was instructed to pay the blood money, however she didn't. She believed it wasn't her fault and decided to fight her right not to throw those money away.
Now I'm getting to the point. Since her hearing, I have no sign of her. Not at all! She isn't answering her Qatari phone, nor she ever comes online. She just disappeared, and I was dieing from the feeling she needs my help. I browsed the internet thousand times to know more about blood money, or jailing of Qatar. Now I guess she might not be given the opportunity to call even her parents, if jailed.
So I come to ask you there, what do you think is happening and will be happening? If in jail, how long would they keep her? How is she treated?
:) haha you made me smile. First I want to know the reason why she does this. There is still a good reason I'm hoping for.. if not that, I might never fully trust her again. (sigh)
another happy ending :)
you can join pikey next time he comes to Europe
life goes on.
The faster you recover, the better.
Guys, I got an email from her. You were damn right she didn't want to contact me. You were all damn right.. and now I was dieing from worries for nothing? :( now I would look as an idiot in my own eyes.
Thanks again.
:D
Do you think she'll need money or her parents are well off? (to pay the blood money)
Of course it would.. but as you can guess, I don't know her parents, have no contact on them. Not at all. (sigh) well, now will I be mistrusted again? :). Don't know what else to say.. but thanks.
This is indeed out of ordinary. Describing term.
Lubomir, if the lady in question's parents have contacted the embassy, as you mentioned earlier, would it not be better if you asked the parents as to what is going on? I do not think that the embassy will give out info to a person not related to the lady.
The embassy are hardly likely to release information to non-family members either by telephone or e-mail.
just1s - thanks. A valuable info.. thanks again. Yes I am sure her family does the best.
Dweller - I contacted British Embassy in Qatar. They obviously work on Sundays. I said I can't come to Qatar in meaning I can't afford such a trip.
1. COORDINATE WITH YOUR RESPECTIVE EMBASSY
2. LET HER FAMILY DO IT. IF IN CASE SHE IS IN JAIL NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO VISIT HERE EXCEPT THE FAMILY MEMBER.
Where are you at the moment?
You state "Obviously, I can't come to check it and to meet her.." and "I am with the Embassy now, hoping to get any new information of what is with her"
Exactly where are you and which embassy are you with?
British Embassies very rarely work on Sunday.
timebandit - no. I am not sure about it. Technically not, even tough I fully trust her, but who of us can be technically ever sure of this?
Nomerci - thanks. I would say some people have been doubting me, thank you for suggesting that you have not.
You must understand, that I will not write any detailed, sensitive information about this case, just as you said, it is a public site. It's already much that I told you. This includes the issues around the car, phone or her parents.
Yes, you are right here I should be aware of the opportunity that she has lied, or twisted the events. Which makes me even more curious about the whole case.
No offence Lubomir but are you sure she wants to talk to you? Are you sure she hasn't made this up just to avoid you?
It's not a case of me distrusting you, but as you can see from the above posts, what you are describing is out of the ordinary. So perhaps there is a chance that you have been misled?
Lubomir, you may not be aware of this, but here on QL we post when we want, as it is a public site.
Also, people are not necessarily doubting you, but there are too many inconsistencies in this story to ring true,at least to us, who actually live here.
But there is something very suspicious about the story. Maybe she has made it up or twisted the events. One never knows why people do strange things. But surely if there was a British woman here who got arrested for being involved in a fatal accident her Embassy would know and be helping her. That's all everyone is saying.
Rishimba - thanks a lot. This is what I was asking about, very glad you answered. Obviously, I can't come to check it and to meet her..
Let's see what the Embassy tells me.
Regards
dweller - the only way how you could be right over there is, that she had been lying to me all the time and no accident ever happened. Which is just crazy to imagine. As well as is crazy to be in need to defend myself to you now.. all of your questions about her phone, car, parents. Obviously I am mistrusted by you here. Sorry to say, but it's just crazy.
Look - there is no need of wasting your time. Don't have to post again.
lubomir,
in the jail people are allowed to call their relatives and there are visiting hours as well once a week.
if she is not calling anyone, either she has no money or she doesnt remember the number. everything is taken away by the authorities, so she wont be having anything with her in the jail.
if you happen to be here, you can just go to the central jail on the day of the visit and meet her.
She wasn't answering her Qatar phone? A Qatar phone on a 5 day trip?
If the family are in touch with the Embassy why have you joined QL to ask questions.
Had this been true it would certainly have made the headlines in the UK.
Sorry mate, but there is something odd going on here.
To be honest and straight, I don't feel like I'm getting the kind if understanding I expected. I am with the Embassy now, hoping to get any new information of what is with her.
To all who honestly tired to help - thanks.
hislam - Yes, she got borrowed the car. A part of her trip. This interests me, can you say more? White people are hardly convicted in Qatar? Serious?
Don't you worry, she doesn't depend on me and my actions. I'm sure her parents called the Embassy immediately. What do you mean by "There is something about this story" Do you want to say I would make it up? Why do I have that feeling you suspect me from it.
timebandit - agreed. Was the reason why I was searching the web. I too found nothing of it. However, hope you don't think I'm making it up. I would have no reason for it.. bordering myself to post in here.
If there is something about the story I wish to know just like you.
lubomir, I never accused you of anything...I was just wondering why you did not do the obvious...
timebandit and hislam, exactly my thoughts!
There's something about the story:
4-5 days trip and she was driving?????!!!!!!
Yes, white people should be jailed for their crimes. But in real life the are hardly convicted.
The real life situation was supposed to be immidiate call from her to the Embassy (not to some friends) and they would interfere immidiately with entirely different sequence than you mentioned.
Again, there is something about this story.
Something like this is normally a big story in the UK press. Yet I have seen nothing of it.
nomercy - Frankly, it didn't. Never been yet in such situation. Yes, will take the advises given. No, I don't think there is any mistake I have done. I am actually surprised to see the way you talk to me. I am not blaming others for my misfortune.
Thanks to all who tried to help.
You are searching for her on the internet???
Just go straight to the British embassy
so white-skinned people should not be jailed for the crimes they commit?
Well Lubomir, why don't you take the advise given and find out?
Btw...did it not occur to you to involve this lady's embassy?
You're very wrong. A purely white-skinned English. Well.. I too would want to hope she isn't jailed
Yup goto embassy & complain there or go to central jail (markaz al asmaa) & ask there of her.
how do you know he crashed into her and got killed? she will be in jail till the court case is done with and whatever fine needs to be paid has been paid
yes, lost marbles is right. Contacting the embassy with details is the best option as of now and in given circumstances.

If she is British..contact British Embassy, they will find out what's happening with her.
english and in jail???
i don't buy it.
maybe "not white skin"-english. ;)
Sounds like she is in jail, why dont you contact your Embassy?
