I have travelled from North to South and East to West over the (once Yugoslavia) all regions are well worth visiting especially Split and Dubrovnik which was severly damaged during the uprising in the 90's, many a historical site was damaged.
I travelled by train and by car several times and was always amazed that there was something I hadn't seen.
A very famousplace is the Pltwitzer which is a natural area, and, was at one time very good to walk around, however, I am not sure if it is open to the public anymore due to some advanced damage from a earthquake in Freoul/Italy in the early 70's.
