We are Qatar, and why it matters not to stand alone
In 2004, I was in the passenger seat of our family car, a Toyota Camry station wagon, sitting next to our driver waiting for my mother to finish her errand with her trusted tailor in Al-Muntazah. I was lazily tuning in to one of the few local radio stations when the transmission was abruptly interrupted to announce breaking news, which was that the ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, aged 86, had passed away.
I remember the air felt thick with grief, as Qataris were calling in, expressing their condolences for their brethren in UAE. I distinctly remember tears streaming down my cheeks when one woman called in, wailing how she was pained by the passing of "Baba Zayed", who will always be in our hearts.
I was 16 years old, and it was precisely at that moment that I knew how intertwined we as GCC countries were. Each country comprises a person in a family unit, and when one person experiences distress or anguish, the rest clamor around that person to help and offer their support.
Today, I weep for entirely different reasons, as this family unit has been greatly compromised. From the surreal events that have unfolded in the last couple of days, it has bewildered absolutely everyone how rapidly things have taken a turn for the worse.
How many elaborate lies and falsified information continue to be propagated by media outlets abroad about Qatar; how can Qataris themselves have been viciously attacked and denigrated by the common man in neighbouring countries on social media; how ruthlessly we are being demonized as a people for merely loving and defending our country and leader, when ironically, we are the ones who who have had blockades imposed on us from all sides by these said countries.
And that is truly at the crux of the matter, that we as a people fully support and unequivocally defend our ruler, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, during this difficult time.
After all, you have to admire a man who, in a time of unprecedented challenges and great adversity, composes himself with class, dignity, patience and resoluteness, qualities that are a mark of a true leader, and if there was a silver lining in all of this, is that we as a nation stand ever more united, all the while displaying the same characteristics of our wise leader, because we refuse to engage in the same vitriol directed towards us, but instead continue to display confidence, kindness and compassion.
Today, all I ask of you is this, if Qatar means something to you, whether you're Qatari or an expatriate, let us show the world what we are capable of, either by sharing our support online through the hashtags below, or whichever format you prefer, because this is when your voices matter the most.

The decision against Qatar is revealing the heartless attitude of those nations who band ties with Qatar, especially during this Holy Month of RAMADAN. Evenhough I'm not a Muslim, I clearly know the faith and values of RAMADAN and how food products, especially dairy products are important during Ramadan and fasting. Through all this decision against Qatar they revealed their heartless attitude and getting revenge from their siblings. However, I really proud of saying that " I support Qatar " and the decision made to stand alone. As an expatriate worker, I can't do anything many or major things regarding this issue, but I certainly say that you're not going to stand alone. We all are going to stand with Qatar and our prayers and wishes may lead you to overcome all these obstacles and discrepancies.
I SUPPORT QATAR. May Allah protect Qatar n Emir.. AAMEEN.
"a just ruler will go to Jannah", and in this hard time we saw Sheikh Tamim is a just ruler. He is working hard to maintain the stability n in such a short period we recvd flights full of food items, its unbelievable.

When I hear the announcement I raise Allah's hand with both hands, we do not expect that the chief of our holy place will announce that, even in the month of the holy month of Ramadan. We all know that the punishment of the convicted accused is waived this month. And Allah says stop the torment of all graves in Ramadan.
