Warning for Birth Control Pill Users

Olive
By Olive

I know this is one of the few Birth Control Pills that are offered in Qatar, so just to let you know Yasmin is being taken to court in Canada for being dangerous to women:

http://www.ctvbc.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20100312/bc_birth_contr...

"Merchant says it has received more than 200 complaints from women across Canada who "have suffered blood clots, pulmonary embolisms, gall bladder removals, and other serious medical emergencies," which the suit allege were caused by the pill."

I also found out another popular brand here, Diane, is also banned in Canada for it's health risks.

Be careful before you buy any drugs, especially birth control, over the counter here and do your research.

ok khawaga...i now understand why you said this.

deepb, its ok...probably my sense of humour is not as sharp as yours !! moreover, and i am serious when the subject being discussed is a delicate one.

By Khawaga• 15 Mar 2010 13:56
Khawaga

Rishimba, no way. I didn't hear me say that! You said that "people's way of thinking cant be much different from their upbringing.." did you not? I disagree with that statement. My upbringing was very different from the way I turned out. Thank heavens for the power of independent thought!

You and deepb are now free to continue your argument.

By deepb• 15 Mar 2010 13:52
deepb

Sigh. Rishimba uncle, I was joking. Don't take everything so seriously.

khawaga,

i really dont know why you are telling all this..

you perhaps know me better than any body else here. you also know this that i do a lot of social work and am a qualified physican. deepb said that if i dont charge for my services, i am a pervert!!

do you agree with him.

By Khawaga• 15 Mar 2010 13:34
Khawaga

rishimba, it seems we are always in disagreement. My upbringing was very conservative and Catholic. And I am not even close to being either. I was raised to get married young and have many Catholic babies. And clearly THAT hasn't happened either, much to my mother's chagrin. :o)

I remember reading a few years back I think in 2003 when Evra, the birth control patch was introduced in Britain, A lot of the users complained about blood clots. It was supposed to be some break-through technology. I wonder what happened to that and is it still available.

I did used to take the Diane when I came here, and I ended up getting a lot of mood swings. I thought I had manic depression and when I went home to my doctor in Canada she asked me what medication I was on. I told her the Diane and she looked at me and said "Are you serious? That's banned in Canada! Transvestites take it because it has so much estrogen in it it helps them grow breasts! No wonder you're getting mood swings!"

That was the first and last time I ever bought over the counter birth control. I now go home to Canada to get it.

Yayuca that's true in many countries where women can only get birth control with a prescription. However here in Qatar they are sold over the counter and anyone can buy them.

You made a moderate accusation against a company and then you went on and cited your source...

Aren't you going against the trend of QL of just not publishing hysterical info without source???

ie. Woman who take the pill grow third led and full body hair because they didn't have faith

By yayuca2001• 15 Mar 2010 09:53
yayuca2001

As far as i know, a woman has to take the birth control pills as per the doctor's reccomendation, which is based on her weight, height, etc...etc....

Never take birth control pills just because your best friend or persons u know are taking the same.
