When I saw Ramadan Mubarek on another site(I love Qatar) and again on this, I thought that was the name of some person who runs the sites that you all knew of there in Qatar.

Obviously, my cultural training needs to be upgraded!I'm learning, I'm learning!

Today we should be finding out about the job. Cross your fingers!

If I ever have a son he's getting that name, in true Frank Zappa spirit, I will make my kid's life a hell they'll never forget me for :D

And wish ya all the best shellyjean :)=

Thanks, glad to know you get where I am coming from.

Versimilitude, I know I am weird with my planning, but it hasn't yet degenerated into spread sheets. I simply have a very long document in Word that is telling me all the little tidbits that I am SURE I can't forget if we get the offer. Bits about Cost of Living, what to ask for/expect in a compensation package, must brings, etc. Oh, schools, visa stuff, luggage requirements. . .Okay, yes, I am a freak. But a nice one!

Nope, no Costcos! But there is Carrefour which is just like a SuperWalmart. I'm a planner, too. Just ask my husband who was amazed that I was up one night a 2 am counting the empty pages in his passport because his new HR said "at least six blank pages." And, btw, my husband's family was Boeing as well. All my family is in Oregon. I'm really looking forward to hearing from you about the decision, our process stretched out seemingly forever. It was April to January for the whole thing to come to fruition. Good luck. You really will pick up an amazing amount of info here. Also read the Gulf Times and Expatwomanqatar.com.

You seem a really nice person shellyjean... I am sure you'll love it here...

planning a holiday is great... nothing like drawing an itinerary on a spreadsheet and reviewing it every day... :-D

the Pacific northwest. Have lived all over the US. Turns out we didn't find out today if he got the job either. Wait till next Friday (that seems to be the day Boeing tells people yes or no).

This site is really great for me. I am a planner. I was going to take a trip to Hawaii once that was cancelled at the last minute because of a ship that lost its AC. I had planned so much and had so fun in the process that I almost got my money's worth of fun (it was very cheap:))

So, even if we don't go, I have had a great time learning about the expat way of life, about an entirely different culture and people and way of life. That being said, I will be SO disappointed if he doesn't get the job. I swear, I have started ridding myself of unnecessary re-usable plastic containers and never used household equip. Just in case. I didn't renew my costco membership-pending the job being offered or not.

There are no Costco's there, right?

Happy Friday;)

you seem to have the least knowledge on such a big thing here... you will learn gradually.

like the way you admitted it on a forum.

which part of US are you from? :-)

We have people who've been here much longer thinking that Arabia is a continent and not a part of Asia... 8-|

Sometimes I do something like that and get such a chuckle from it that I have to go looking for someone to share it with! lol

ROFL! So funny..don't worry, you'll learn as you go along.

Technically it is possible for someone to be called that as Ramadan and Mubarak are both names...but HIGHLY unlikely put together!!!

Thanks for giving me a laugh.

Good luck with the job.
