Walking outside Doha

Hello all,

I wonder if anyone could advise of any publication that exists, or if anyone has any maps / guides, detailing walks ('rambles') in Qatar.

I'm looking at two to three hour walks, 'in the country'.

Any suggestions / guidance would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

I uploaded my QNHG tour of Qatar to another thread. I can only add an attachment to a message I write in a new thread.

I'm thinking of buying a GPS to find these places. Otherwise, I'll probably end up wandering around looking for landmarks and going back and forth.

I have a QNHG walking list from last year when they invited some folks from UAE (Dubai?) to Doha. It's in my office PC so I'll reply to this thread tomorrow with the attachment.

Silvesurfer,

Maybe you could help me. There are many place names that I don't know how to get to. Could you show me how to get to them?

Silver surfer - why don't you take the lists from previous years...

it has been going on for years.

.to start you off and do some recce stuff to see what else you can find.

there are a diminishing amount of walks you can go on close to Doha due to building...

That's just it, BDB, there are no walks at present, and I am trying to access info. so that I can put one on, without having to re-invent the wheel!

There must be somebody out there with info. on locations for a decent walk.

When is the next walk?

As it happens, I am posting this in order to put on walks for the QNHG Ramblers section!!

Seems they have a dearth of walks / walk leaders at pres., so I am trying to make my little contribution.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

A friend took a fascinating walk through the desert a few weeks ago. His wife dropped him off somewhere, he walked with a buddy all day, his wife met him at a prearranged location where she dropped off camping stuff, and he spent the nite there (in the middle of nowhere (in Qatar)! I can ask him where he went and get back to you. Is this what you want?
