The Vodafone First 1000 Experience so Far...
from: http://www.lifeonthespot.com
So to summarize the experience to being the first 1000:
1. Paid 70QR for 700QR Credit.
2. 700QR credit for 1st month is close to useless as No coverage, no stability, dropped calls.
3. Paid 70Qr again. Credit now goes to 1400QR. Used 200QR to call when there is service.
4. Got survey from Vodafone.
5. Paid another 70QR. Doesn't really care how much credit I have now. I'm sure I have a lot!
6. Scratching head on what to do with credit.
I actually don't know how the 1st 1000 customers are going to be different from the other would-be clients of Vodafone. At this point in time, I still don't feel "cooler" than those who are still using QTEL. I still don't feel special nor do I feel any different from anybody else. Wasn't this supposed to be the goal of Vodafone for the 1st 1000? Hopefully, if I scratch my head a bit more, somebody from Vodafone might realize that the 1st 1000 still exist and might do something drastic and make the 1st 1000 users believe that Vodafone is going to be better in service and products. Until then, we can only scratch our heads...
vodafone looted people for 70QR/month and u still continuing on it? cancelled qtel or paying for that also?
people are paid for doing beta testing or atleast its free since its for the companies benefit but the so called 1st 1000 customers paid 70QR/month to test and support Vodafone, poor 1000 customers, lucky i was not part of this loot by voda even though i had applied to get looted but thankfully didnt get selected :)
exactly like my expwrience as well. Vodafone is currently worthless.
Ah...yes...so it seems we've been duped... he he he...
at least the other people in Qatar would learn and see how Vodafone , at the moment, is not the answer to their QTEL problems...

Vodafone underestimated the trouble they'd have getting permission from landlords and landowners to erect masts, plus their mast sharing scheme with Qtel hit problems (see previous threads). Hence the low coverage.
That's why they only roll out to 1000 customers to start with. The goal of the first 1000 is to beta test the network, and if there are problems (as there have been) then it's only 1000 people you've upset, and they can use the excuse that you're just beta testers.
The fact that you thought the service would be 80% that of Qtel's, that you thought you'd be special, and that you were happy to pay QR70 a month just shows how good Vodafone's marketing is :)
