i am not a type of person who is easily provoked, but is vodafone really promoting calls to israel!! just received a message from them that says the rate to zion land is QR 1.75. Pi§@"* me off!!
I agree with some points you have mentioned, yet I want to say that I don't listen to Imams of Hatred, and I would like to underscore that what I said is "we believe in Palestine and its existence".
I never said I hated Israel, well I do from the bottom of my heart and feet, but I just don't like it when people throw words in my mouth.
Now with all due respect, I just don't like the fact that Vodafone are hypocrats enough to treat Palestine as a state when it comes to Arabic Speaking Customers, and to call it "Palestinian Authority" to avoid upsetting English Speaking Customers. The are Hypocrats to the extent that the world Israel doesnt even exist in their arabic database.
Oh, the oppression of Arabs by their dictators to me is a better situation than living the spoon-fed everyday lie that makes the likes of yourself think that they in fact know something, when they really don't.
Vodafone sent out these messages to its customers after the Nov 14 end of their last promotion. The country they sent you the rate for is the country you called the most during the promotion (mine was the rate for Canada, my husbands for Syria).......
As a poster mentioned, Palestine doesnt exist as a state so...
Well Israel most certainly does exist, and it has its own international dialling code, internet domain ending, and everything. What's more, Vodafone operates in Israel, and you can send SMS there if you wish.
People also would call Israel because they are the most technologically advanced state in the region and the hub for commerce and scientific development.
The dialling code for Israel is +972. That's part of a sequence of number which includes UAE 971, Bahrain 973 and of course Qatar at 974.
Sounds like someone somewhere had a bit of a sense of humour, or else didn't realise that as a condition of connecting the Middle East to the global telecoms network they were required to have 'beliefs or values' which advance an Islamist political agenda.
Surely +666 the sign of the Satan would be a better code. (LOL)
If you stopped listening to the imams of hatred spewing their anti-everything propaganda, and made up your own mind on things like this, perhaps your arguments would be a bit more robust. Saying 'we are Arabs and therefore we all hate Israel' is, umm, not really very nuanced. Perhaps an appropriate place to start would be the oppression of Arabs themselves by Arab dictators, rather than some mythologised Zionist conspiracy.
What is Israel but the focal point for 1500 years of resentment at a lack of prestige and progress? Everything's their fault, after all.
Unearned oil wealth and an indoor ski slope is, by the way, not to be confused with 'prestige'.
PS. I think they have a little saying in Qatar which could be adapted. If you don't like it, then just don't call the number!

At the end we are Arabs, we have our beliefs, our culture, our traditions, and we believe in Palestine and its existence.
Now a company like Vodafone Qatar wouldn't want to recognize Palestine as a country, fine, because they were brought to this land to invest, and this is the way business works. They don't have beliefs or values other than making profit, I understand. However, while you try to do that, you should pay respect to the land that has embraced you, and do it with out being a hypocrat. I would be agreeing with you 100% in one case only, if my friend didn't receive the sms in Arabic that said "Falasteen" or "Palestine", not "Palestine Authority".
Sleeky moves like this are the reason why I don't like Vodafone.
If you want to promote minutes to Israel, then you should show respect to Palestine as well. A palestinian friend of mine received a message that said: "calls to Palestine Authority ..." which only means Vodafone Qatar (shamefully) do not recognize Palestine as a country, but rather an authority.
Well I miss the Qtel Special offer they had for the past few months since the last Eid, I was calling my friends and family in the UK for free on and up to my calling allowance, and even after that it was just 0.29/mins.

so don't use vodafone. end of story. end of hatred. stick to qtel, don't worry be happy.
vodafone has every right to do what it deems profitable for them, they're not politicians.
At the end we are Arabs, we have our beliefs, our culture, our traditions, and we believe in Palestine and its existence.

Yeah I give you that, my bill shrunk to 1/4, with at least double the minutes... It was just a blessing from Qtel.
Oh and you can buy their new International Packs now, you can call anywhere in the world for only QR 0.83.
And last but not least, I just have to make the phone call once without getting 3 or 4 drops before I make a single minute.
RESPECT
but Palestine does not exist as a country in any official capacity. Vodafone is not the UN and cannot declare an area of land as country!!

Maybe you could call random people in Israel and complain about the illegal settlements there....
That's not a bad rate. I should see if any of my friends are in Israel at the moment.
What's so much to get pissed for that?
