Visiting Qatar
By houstonmom •
My parents are planning on visiting Doha around Christmas, for about 2 weeks. Do they need a visa to do this? If so, how hard is it to get one? My husband's employer took care of our visas, so I don't know what the process is for getting one if you are not staying. Also, my mom wants to bring her small chihuahua (it goes everywhere with her). Will she need anything other than rabies vaccination and health certificate for the dog?
Would appreciate any information you have.....Thanks!
your parents should have credit card - that's all.

My kitties aren't fat and ugly. I actually got my first one to keep me company in Korea cause I was living in this tiny area with noone else who spoke English and I found her on the street. The other one I found at the Humane Society here in Doha.
You see I'm in training to become a crazy cat lady. That's why I made friends with QatarCat, she is part of my collection. :)
How about fat & ugly to take care off.... kinda rhymes right, Cute and Cuddly...Fat and Ugly

Ya pets really aren't an Asian thing are they, :? I just love something cute and cuddly to take care of and entertain me. I think it's a luxery thing. My cat is currently trying to bat the words I'm typing off the screen, it really cute. :)
Why majority of westerners like pets so much.....Just trying to understand the reason behind it, ( No Racism guys)

Keep in mind, I have been told by Qatar Pet Relocators that getting them into the country is the easy thing, getting them back out again is apprantely much harder, because animals in the Middle East for any length of time must get even more permits and vaccinations. Unfortunatly there are not too many trustworthy vets here and a lot of the vaccinations are state run, which means a lot of red tape. The dog will need to get the vaccinations here to leave, and that will take longer than your parents will be here.
HoustonMom, you do need an import permit. In order to get an animal in to Qatar you need to show your passport and proof of employment. Which will mean a letter of employment. My cat is coming through KLM as well, but through cargo, and those are the things I needed.

The US embassy in Doha should be able to give you further information.
Thanks for the tourist visa info! Will they need to have $15 US or Riyals?
As for the dog, they are flying KLM, which will let them bring the dog in the cabin with them, and their flight will probably not be through London, so we won't have to worry with that. I have tried to convince her not to bring her, but before she decides she wants to know what she has to do to get her there. I can get her there (plane), but once there, I don't know what she will need to have as far as paperwork. The only paperwork I know about for sure is the rabies and health certs, but I heard something about an import permit. Does anyone know about this? Thanks!
The normal tourist visa is 14 days long. They can get it at the airport for 15$. I wouldn't recommend bringing a dog that far only to turn around and fly it back again 2 weeks later, not only is it very very hard on the animal (we are talking at least 24 hours in transit), but its not very cheap, because Britain will not allow animals threw because of bird flu which means the dog will have to fly sepratly in cargo to Amsterdam. Please try to convince your mother NOT to bring the dog. I've flown my cat one way from Korea to Canada, Canada to the Middle East and it took her a month to adjust.
