Visit visas on hold while Doha hosts UN meeti
"A circular sent by the Immigration Department to one of the five-star hotels and obtained by Gulf Times reads: “Tourist/Visit Visa processing has been stopped by the Immigration Department from November 4, 2008 for one month. Acceptance of applications will be resumed after the United Nations Conference, by December 5, 2008.”
how about those who are holding visit visa that will expire on the said dates, can they apply for extention?
awkhan
once you got visa you can use it within time limit given on visa.I dont think that normal family visit visa will not extend in normal condition.only thing they will stopproviding new visa for time being and it is normaly each november this happens, since this time weather is good and international meets are being arranged during this time
Thank you tallg and Alumnar. It's so hard to tell the difference between rumor and change of policy here.

The above has not been issued by immigration. There has been a mistake about it and airport immigration has issued a memo which has been sent to all of my husband's colleagues and himself amongst probably another million other people/companies. I am in the same situation. My visit visa expires during that period. All you need to do is purchase the visit visa beforehand, which will allow you to leave and reenter Doha without any problems.
It also says:
1. Employees with residence permit can travel and come back anytime and exit visas will be issued regularly.
2. Business and tourist visas will be issued until Nov 28th. Visitors can enter Qatar betweek Nov 29 and Dec 3, if they have already obtained their visa (business or tourist).
3. Immigration authorities will neither accept visa application nor issue visas between those above mentioned dates. Visit visas at Doha airport will also not be issued during those dates.
Hope this helps people who have to travel during those dates.
