There is some information on the AJE website about a media conference at end March/beginning April.

Perhaps the delay in processing your work visas is, in part at least, because the external affairs department at AJE has been very busy recently processing visas for the guest speakers and other delegates for this event?

I have no idea, no inside information whatsoever, I'm just guessing myself, but I think it would be reasonable to assume they have been very busy recently dealing with this event, which is to take place very shortly.

They may have a bit of a backlog of work as a result (again, I'm guessing here, I have no inside information), and if they have, maybe they can get on top of it and deal with other more routine applications again in the near future?

Again, I want to say I have no inside information, I'm guessing, but if I were you guys, I wouldn't worry unduly, it will get sorted out eventually.

Hi AbouHashem,

Well my friend it seems we are both patiently waiting in the same ditch hoping that Qatari bureaucracy could learn form Michael Schumacher :-)!

I signed my contract with Al Jaz. Int. nearly a month ago and I am still waiting for my work visa. I was told that it would take 3-5 weeks to get the work visa! What about you?

In the meantime I am STILL enjoying my vacation in Lebanon and I am hoping to start with my new job soon! I will keep you posted once I get any news regarding my work visa.

What you're thinking of probably won't work.

This is what i've been told when i asked the same question coming here: you have to come on a business visa from the company that will make you the residency. You cannot transform your visit visa to Work permit.

I just did my blood test this morning which means that my residency will be finished soon! I'm so happy abt it :)

Good luck!
