Visa to Sell?
By Wild Turkey •
Twenty-one people have been arrested after US authorities set up a fake university to expose immigration fraud.
Officials said the accused knew that the University of Northern New Jersey did not exist, but they were unaware it was a ruse run by immigration agents.
The defendants acted as brokers for more than 1,000 foreigners who sought to maintain student and work visas, prosecutors said.
Most foreign nationals involved in the scheme came from China and India. (BBC)
That reminds me of Qatar where visa dealing is the norm for some nationalities.
Ya, That's the thing Prize.
People want to learn but don't know the right place.
LL: The problem is that the poor suffer. I recall going to a barber in Saudi. He said that he paid 20k Saudi riyals for a visa to bring his son to the country. When he arrived, he found that his "kafeel" wanted another 3k to help him get a resident permit...
What is your problem. They want to make a living :)
Yeah, it's a big "business" in Qatar.
I have always been confused by the "business visa" in Qatar... From what i've read, most people use it to come to Qatar to look for work
Well done to the authorities...
Visa dealing is the norm.. The sad thing is that the criminals get away usually and the poor get punished...
