Hello People, and good morning...

I am a Brit Expat that has been here for 4 years in Qatar... I am now facing a Problem with my Visa and I have no idea on what to do... if you could give me some advice then this would be appreciated fully, as it seems my Employers dont give a damn...

I left my last job and recieved from them the release letter which I gave to my new employer, I also provided relevant papers from the UK Embassy and gave to my new Employer (3 months ago) to start the Transfer of my Visa... Yesterday I received an email from my employer stating that there has been an issue with my Visa and that the Goverment has made a mistake (I doubt that) and that I have to ask my old employer to get me another RP (This is not their issue or responsibility), my old employer has refused as this is Illegal... Now my current employer has said it is not their Problem... I also have flights booked on the 28th of this month as my employer stated all was fine with my Visa, this was mentioned last week!!... I have no RP and I really dont know what to do now...

Any Advice?

Thanks
Kel

referring to your case , i faced a similar case with one of my empoyers , my opinon is to go there & as for yuor papers , & always when u apply, & they receive your papers , they give you a number or date or a paper to to follow up with , so go to the head

This is quite clear to me and the British Embassy may not help but it is worth a try. The passport tells you that this is the property of the government.

My papers were in the immigration three months with my passport, however, when I wanted to leave Qatar, I got the passport back for the time I was out, the paper procedure was ongoing.

Don't send e-mail go there and demand to talk to the person in charge you have to get your papers girl.

most embassy wont do much if it messes with another countries immigration policies or legal system they will only make sure your being treated fairly. However what most people dont know is that your passport is property ( and not your personnel property)of the country of issue and to this extent if your company is withholding your passport the embassy can actually demand that it it is returned to them for holding until such times as the mess is straitened out. this is usually the case when a someone is arrested and chucked in prison over seas.

Yes I am going crazy... my passport was supposed to be in my hands yesterday.. but of course never came,,, now the person is not answering my phone calls or Emails, and this is the HR in charge of the company... I have also contacted the Emabassy already via email.. so I hope to hear from them later today..

Thanks for ur help, and I hope to have something resolved soon

As I said before locate your passport and papers - no matter fine or what, make yourself a plan what you will do today to locate those papers.

You are not a person without that passport and you will not be going anywhere if you can't locate it.

1) Talk to whoever took the papers.

2) Get the receipt number of the papers acceptance to the immigration.

3) Find out if this was done by a PRO.

4) Get your passport back in your hand today.

5) Check with immigration a) about the papers b) if you can leave Qatar on 28th.

6) If you don't get any further go to the British Embassy and get information from them.

I would be frantic not knowing what my status is and not having my passport so start your search today please.

You need to have atleast two months of visa validity for you to be able to transfer your sponsorship. Seems like your current employer dilly dallied and delayed things. Now there may not be sufficient validity on your RP.

The solution would be to get a one year extension for your RP from your old employer and then make a sponsorship transfer. You ought to be willing to pay whatever charges are incurred for the same, about 1000QAR or so.

Most employers shouldn't have a problem in extending the RP of an ex-employee especially if you are willing to foot the bill.

You also need to be careful of overstaying the validity of your existing RP. You have a three month grace period and after that you start getting fined at QAR100 per day.

Another solution would be for your new employer to get a new RP for you, you fly out of Qatar and then you fly back in on your new RP.

If you had the correct documents NOC, etc. there should have been no trouble with the RP.

Find out if there was a PRO doing this work for you company and find out what the mistake was, check that all the papers you gave to them were complete it is quite clear that your previous company cannot give you a new RP as you are not working for them.

If they sent the papers to the immigration there will be a receipt with a number, with this receipt you can check on MOI what tha actual status is.

Where is your passport at this time??

If you don't get anywhere go directly to the immigration department NOW as they will be closed over EID.
