Villagio stores & City Center NEW stores

By munozchick

Does anyone know what stores will be in the Villagio? When will it open?

What new stores are being added to City Center?

touchy subject for me that one- can anyone tell me where I can buy linen for trousers?? How many different fabrics can one country have and perhaps one of the most useful for the climate is erm, nowhere to be found? (Or have I just not looked hard enough?)

I was at the Villagio yesterday and there's a few stores open by the canal. Chicco, and a few other ladies clothing stores. I also saw what I think was a Foot Locker sign above one storefront that was under construction. And of course Virgin Megastore should be opening soon.

The look of Villagio seems to copy the mall at the Venetian in Las Vegas but it is shaping up to be a nice place. I hope there are a good number of cafes in the works.

Hi guys, I read all the comments about Villaggio Mall and let me tell you that it is not same like Citycenter. The ambience is entirely different, no doubt that it also has Icerink, which is going to open shortly added to that they have a water canal where beautiful wooden boats will go through. Something new in Doha which we should be proud of.

As far as shops are concerned, I do agree that to an extent the brands will be same all over Doha, except few.

I went yesterday assuming there was an ATM. Stupid me thinking there would be an ATM at a mall! Anyway, I walked around...saw so many clothes I wanted and then left. So,I'm going back today :)

Bajesus...I actually found a short cut from my house...I followed the torch.

I would say the easiest way to get there would be to go down D ring road passing both salwa rd and mirqab st. Go to the R/A where you can either go left toward Khalifa Stadium or right toward Al Saad (Sudan R/A???). Take a left. After that you just go straight down until you see Khalifa Stadium. You'll get to the traffic signal AFTER Khalifa Stadium, take a right. You sort of have to zig zag around construction but your direction should be right. After that, go straight until you see a sign on the right that says Villagio. Take a right.

Wow, reading that...I suck at directions. Oh well its the best I can do.

Bajesus, the only way to get to some locations in Qatar today is to fly. Really frustrating. Have a good day.

I was supposed to go there today but after getting lost for almost 2 hrs trying to find an entrance amidst all the road works and being stuck in traffic which was a complete state of chaos I eventually gave up and went to Royal Plaza instead. Can any1 plz give clear directions on how to get there???

Terramix, Dulcè Cafè is a Mediteranean style coffee shop with Mediteranean type fare as well. Their coffee is Italian style - STRONG - with similar style cuppacinos, lattès, etc. but served in proper coffee cups. Espresso comes in teh small cups though. No artificially flavoured coffee like Starbucks - only the real thing. I love their salad and pasta dishes. There is no red meat on the menu either - only chicken and seafood dishes apart from the vegetarian selections. Something really different and un-American for a change. Give them a try.

All the clothes shops are open and have been for a while! Topshop, River Island are big as well! Personally i love the shoes in River Island! :)

Sa_japie: So this Dulce Cafe actually sells coffee? Not that brown concoction, that Starbucks calls coffee. Do they really sell it in NORMAL size coffee cups?

I really nice coffee shop called Dulcè Cafè will be opening in Villagio soon. There will also be one at Landmark early next year as well. There is one in Bahrain [Nasser] and a couple are opening soon in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

They have really nice breakfasts as well as great coffee!

Princess. As long as you don't drink what they call "coffee" in Starbucks I am not scared for your life, and can sleep well. Good night ;)

Munozchick - lucky you. But still sort of reminds me of old good communist times "Fly Aeroflot!"... as if you could fly something else. Buy remote control - one brand fits all.

Each to there own and FYI just because I know its there does not mean that I shop there!!

By Princess• 12 Nov 2006 23:59

I can confirm

1. Wallis

2. Next

3. Faith/Dune (can not remember which one)

4. TopShop

5. River Island

6.Carefour

7. Starbucks (and I am NOT American)

ha. I bought a universal remote from FFC after throwing mine against the wall. It works good. Thats a lie. The #2 doesnt work. Damnit.

Are these clothing stores already open at Villagio? I heard MAC will be open at the end of the month.

Good sheets are one of the most important things in life. High thread count.

Munozchick: the "universal remote" for QAR14 - the only one they sell everywhere, is the fastest and most efficient way to throw away QAR14 - it is a piece of junk which won't support anything made after 1995, if will work at all.

Sheets: This is an item which should be sold everywhere! And not stupid clothes from NEXT or River Island There should be a store which sells linen. What are you people sleep upon? 100% polyester? No wonder everyone is so electricized :)

Well, it's not "Home" but better than City centre and The Wallis is not too bad.

I like River Island and Wallis. Love Topshop but the one at City Center has a small selection.

I don't understand how its supposed to be the biggest mall here yet they dont have a website. Stupid.

By munozchick• 12 Nov 2006 23:28

Universal Remote: Lulu, FFC, the little cold stores, Megamart, etc...

Sheets: We found some at The home store at Hyatt. I went back a few weeks ago and they dont have them anymore. Overstock.com is awesome for sheets.

anyone who has something to do anything with administration of these malls put up a website people.

some huge malls going around and the only one I know that has one is royal plaza.

And when.. erm sorry IF you put up one update it people with stores that have discounts etc simple marketing.

and it would be good if the mall was open for longer at least the entratainment places i.e. bowling alley, Xworld etc

Well, will tell you that they have a River Island, Topshop & Wallis (Which r NOT in the other malls) Seems to be very high street. The NEXT store is better and they also have a small home accessory section. The best selling point of that Mall is that it is alot quiter than the others so you can get a better service plus there is no where to "HANG OUT"except starbucks so that limits those just hanging out to stare at people.

Happy Shopping

Novita, at the same time try buying something useful. Like universal remote control or 100% cotton bed linen. I ended up buying first through Amazon, and the second my wife will bring from home on the coming week... and I spent almost a week of my time looking for both in Doha.

I think you are defenitely right. Every mall/shopping centre will have Milano, Starbuck, Mothercare, Bodyshop, Next, Carrefour, etc etc :-)

Judging by signs, 90% are the same. After all how can anything be new to Doha, if all stores are owned by same groups of companies. They just endlessly replicate themselves.

By munozchick• 12 Nov 2006 22:04

There are no stores that are new to Doha...or at least not in City Center?

Villagio is already open, and it is a carbon copy of City Centre. Don't expect anything exciting.
