Verbal abuse to wife's parents

Most of the men feel when they r angry it is their national duty to verbally abuse his wife's parents like saying bad words, abusive language & if the wife is strong enuff to condemn this she gets beaten up or is subject to more abuse, it might be verbal, emotional or physical. These mentally retarded men, if they r Muslim, use Islam as their tool in a wrong way by saying we r superior & we have the right to hit u.

Unfortunately, Muslim wives often accept un-Islamic treatment from their husbands because they don't know their Islamic rights, and they don't realize their husbands are crossing the Islamic line.

Abusive men are completely disregarding the Islamic teachings of kindness, mercy, gentleness, and forgiveness, just as they are disregarding the example of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, who never hit a woman and was extremely gentle and compassionate with his family.

I used the word Muslim / Islam because I have seen numerous cases in this regard happening around me. Men, whether educated or illeterate, does not make any difference, when they want to hit a woman's respect or heart this is what they do which I feel is the most coward thing.

One of my friend's fiancee asked her if she would listen to him when he is angry & uses bad words for her parents. The girl refused to allow him to do that & now he is not talking to her. He says this is part of our tradition that men say ill stuff & women listen without uttering a word & she should do the same thing. The least she can protest according to this tradition is shed tears to show that she is hurt. He even said okay if you dont comply then I dont want to marry you. Ofcourse the girl is hurt but she stood to her decision that neither now nor in the future would she allow him to use abusive language for her parents. What's ur take on this

if only women had the strength to stand up and be counted in these places, I know it isn't easy for them and women are not considered for good jobs etc to allow them to leave and be independent,

two bricks strategically placed and brought togehter with force would work beautifully :)

Its a means of keeping the wife in line.. especially in india, pakistan, bangladesh etc,,

the husband uses the wife's parents as a means of controlling her. No person likes to see their parents being abused, so in order to avoid it, they tow the line..

Ofcourse a kick in the groin or careful use of a baseball bat should cure the problem.

The saddest thing of all is that "preachers" hardly ever focus on these issues.

seems to me that a lot of cowards, bullies and the like, use religion to hide behind.

Yet as I see it, most religions preach kindness, honesty and respect for fellow men,

will never understand abuse in any form.

Thankyou for the posting. It is , as Brandylady says a worldwide problem.

it is definitely nothing to do with Islam. I cannot really understand how they can justify their actions by referring to islam. this shows just how ignorant they really are!

this is a worldwide problem, discussed in depth on numerous occasions here on QL, there are men who abuse women, fact....

religion, race colour or creed doesn't come into it, they are just ignorant bullies who think they have the right,

some women cannot change their way of life but others stand up for themselves and end the torrent of abuse,

worldwide problem.
