Vehicle Servicing.
Hello People.
What is your experience/opinion on the Auto retail industry in dear old Qatar?
I ask this question as I have just bought a new vehicle. I had to buy a new vehicle as my old one has been in for servicing since the end of February. Yep here we are with half of April gone and my poor old car is still up on bricks in the nasty service area awaiting spare parts. I did not realize that WHEEL BEARINGS were such and exotic item. The vehicle in question is a TRUE OFFROADER so one would expect a forward thinking supplier to have at least half a container of these items to change between the 100 - 150K lifecycle.
Nah. Not a chance. Wait, Wait, Wait. To be honest the service rep is really embarassed. He cannot magic parts from thin air. No it is the Manufacturers and the Local Sponsors. THEY DO NOT CARE FOR PEOPLE WANTING SOMETHING AS ANNOYING AS SPARE PARTS. They just want you to scrap your old car AND BUY A NEW ONE......
So I bought a new one. From a different dealer....
Not looking forward to the first/second/third service though...... "Hmmm sorry but there is a three year wait on that most important split pin".......
Over three months now.
Not really a day to complain about a car.
Thanks for the welcome to Doha. It is a bit late as I have been here 15 years.
Welcome to Doha. We feel your pain. We've been there!

Purchase it online. With shipping included, it still works out cheaper than buying local for me.
Qatar is extremely backwards and very expensive when it comes to car spares and service.
bring ur car to the expert maybe u bring ur car in the car show ironically they will just told u to sell ur car and buy new one.
purchase it online...
aside from authorized car dealers and service shops providing genuine spare parts from manufacturers, some parts for American, European and Japanese cars can also be purchased from hundred of automotive spare parts shops around Doha. I don't think the original car manufacturer has the monopoly to make, fabricate or manufacture all the parts needed to assemble a car. Local manufacturer from each country produce the parts that complete one single car.
The irony is that the authorized dealers can only use parts coming from the car manufacturer.
