The vagaries of Qatari immigration...

My goodness, how frustrating is it?

I am waiting to come back to Qatar, having worked between there and Dubai until July last year. I am coming back to work for a different company this time, and there have been huge problems getting the requisite entry forms signed and stamped by my old sponsor and then getting them cleared by immigration so I can re-enter the country. I was supposed to be coming last Saturday, then it was changed to Tuesday (tomorrow), and now it's been put back to Friday. I'm still not sure if I'll be coming yet, but Insha'allah, it will all be sorted out and I'll finally get there!

I should have known it would be like this. I had similar issues waiting for my sponsor to sign my exit visa when I was over there last time.

Sorry for the rant. Just wanted to get it off my chest. I JUST WANT TO GET THERE!

It is very Dubai-centric.

I know novita used to post on there a bit. And Lady Lou, who seemed to have a very...shall we say...unfavourable view of Qatar.

I have nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion.

Black and white.

I've been back in the UK since last year, and am bored of the cold and wet (and the taxes, to be fair). My wife and family were with me during my time in Dubai, and they are staying here now. I'm coming on a 5/1 week rotation so it shouldn't be bad. I think Doha is a better place for single status people too. Less things to spend on! And anyway, I prefer Doha. Yes, Dubai has all the bright light, but it has all the traffic to go with it, and the pretentious, supercilious a***holes who live there.
