Vacation

Hi Everybody,

Didn't really know where to go with this subject so i planted it here. Sorry if it's the wrong space.

I was just thinking about vacation. I really wanna go this year. But dodn't know where to go.

I don't want it to be to expensive.

Does anybody know how to arrange a vacation? Is there any organisation to go to or any website.

My leaving piont is ofcourse this country.

What are the best countries to go to on vacation?

I don't only want to go to the beach but also inject myslef with culture and fun stuff.

It doesn't have to be an tourist attraction but just a nice safe open country.

I hope you have any idea so you can help me with the above.

Thanks a lot.

Happy greetz J. :):)

I've just been reading your comments with great interest. The tips and experiences you are sharing are awesome. However, I haven't been able to find any cheap flights from Dohan. Us Europeans are very used to the low cost flight airlines (easyjet, ryanair, flyb etc etc) and the prices of Qatar airways seem quite high. I've only been able to find one "low-cost" airline, AIRARABIA, and they have cheap flights to great destinations but not Thailand or Far East Asia, where I would like to go.

Any ideas for cheap flights?

Hi, I travel alot and meet many people, so far the nicest and cheap places to see is Bali, and also Phuket. I've been to Bali and its very cheap and lots to do and see! I haven't been to Phuket but many of my friends love to go there because its cheap and beautiful! I love the culture, food, beaches in Bali and there is really lots to do, masages are very cheap and they are excellent. Lots of water sports, nice food, nice shopping and people are friendly!

nowadays never have the chance to go all those 'exciting places' with son in tow Jauntie.

back to the original thread ...

there are alot of places to go in Asia. Kuala Lumpur offer alot (sighseeing, shopping, culture). Failed on that you can go to Genting Highland and visit the tea plantation and the area. Or Penang Island (you can drive or fly, but i would suggest flying would be quicker and if you stay in ShangriLa Golden Sands you would find Kasina Rent a Car just outside the hotel). Or Melaka ... the old city where the portugis settlement is).

I never used any travel agent in Doha for arranging our holiday. The most we used Space Travel nxt door to Starbucks in Ramada for our tickets. The rest like hotel, car hire, transfer we deal through e-mail.

we went to a bar where the local ladies were supposed to pay a LOT of attention to the boys.

My male companions were a bit upset, because the local ladies were all sitting on MY lap!

One of the more jealous males in our party suggested the Thai ladies though I was 'like them' (whatever that meant!)   I was rather flattered actually lol  (I did decline a massage, though, as you do!)

If you do go Bangkok, i would recommend you to stay in Novotel Siam Square, not very expensive, right in down town and next door to train station.

Beware with all those con merchants though ...

Tioman Island,

http://www.berjayaresorts.com/beachresort_tiomanbeach.htm

Is good if you are a beach person and love jungle trek. If you stay in the hotel on the link you will find monitor lizzard and monkey roamin around ouside your chalet.

Gili Trawangan,

An island north west coast of Lombok (eastern of Bali). Ideal for diving or snorkling.

http://www.hotelombak.com/

Bali,

Very touristi but you can get everything in there. I am sure you can alternate your days while you there betwen bach and visiting cultural stuffs.

Petra, Jordan

If you like ruin try to go to Petra. I went there 3 yrs ago for day trip. We drove down from Amman (4 hrs trip) in the early morning and drove back. Did not realize 1 day not enough visiting Petra. I would suggest stay for the night in Movenpick Petra just outside Petra ruin itself.

http://www.moevenpick-hotels.com/hotels/petra_resort/

Go to dead sea as well and stay in Movenpick Dead sea ... try to float on dead sea

If your hubby into car there is a nice car museum that own by Jordan King Abdullah and really worh visit

Selcuk, Turkey

you can go to Selcuk (an hour flight from Istanbul, and about 45 mins drive from Izmir airport).

In Selcuk you would be able to visit

Ephesus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ephesus, The House of Virgin Mary, Open Air Train Museum, Sirinje and some other places. The place very old and have very rich cultural history.

http://wikitravel.org/en/Selcuk

When you have enough of history and culture in selcuk you can have a drive to Kusadasi for beach and clubbing lol. It is about 20 mins to 30 mins depend how fast you drive.

We stayed in this hotel for 8 nights :

The arranged airport transfer for us and looked after us really well. The hotel is a family business and very cosy.

If you need to ask anythin just let me know.

Depends...do you want to go somewhere and just bum around, relax and

reenergize yourself or do you want something more adventurous. Try sharm el

sheikh for the former and Botswana/Namibia for the later.

Sharm El Sheikh sounds like a good choice (close by and you get to hear more

shuwaya shuwaya). I got a deal from lastminute.com exactly one year ago (from London leaving early

march) for 330 pounds (flight, half board at Hilton waterfalls deluxe room

7nights)….Still cant believe the price.

"kerala or sri lanka are not very good choices as it is very hot " ever been to the Mountains in these places. it is cold out there my friend.

BTW if you can manage the Doha heat then SL heat is Chicken feed.  Weather is fine in Thailand during August.

In august, kerala or sri lanka are not very good choices as it is very hot and humid there. In august, in India the good place are the hills in the north starting from Shimla on wards. any place south to that is a punishment rather than vacation. Also u should check out the weather in Thailand in August before venturing there. And as u r from europe, You are surely not used to that  kind of weather.

I think lots of Gulf Arabs head that way during July, August to get away from the heat HERE.   It may be rainy season there at that time, but SO green!

We spent a week there in October.  Stayed in Muscat, then flew to Salalah.  Inexpensive and lovely beaches. We also hired drivers for the odd half day to drive us around.  Very friendly and informative.

We stayed in hotels on the beach - fabulous sands and water!

Search in google, any travel agency could help you. Arrange for a travel package arrangement. If you want a cheap vacation then just go to any GCC Dubai is best. For Far East, Bangkok, Manila and Malaysia are the cheapest  I cannot suggest you  any of Europe coz eveything there is expensive. Or if you want Indian subcon go to Kerala or Maldives and Sri Lanka
