Uzbek airlines flies from Sharjah to the capital Tashkent.
I went to two leading well known travel agencies yesterday in Qatar after a LOT of messing around I was told they can't ticket me.

Why?
How can I purchase these tickets?

try the Georgian cheesy bread while you are there! Have an extra piece for me! ;)

Also, regarding future travel to Central Asia, you might want to look at flights to Turkey on other airlines from Doha (maybe cheaper) and then connect to Turkish Airlines to Tashkent in Istanbul.

Nice idea... good point BUT triples the price.

Inshallah Air Arabia starts a flight.

I will go off to Armenia and Georgia instead...

as Africa is flooded.

Orynx, I suggest that you skip national airlines in the region as the former Soviet Republics aren't known for their efficiency. Most international organizations working in the area either go through Moscow or Istanbul. For your best bet from Qatar, give Turkish airlines a call. The ticket might cost a bit more but the added reliability and safety is worth it. Also, you might have an enjoyable layover in Istanbul. Anyway, Happy Travels!
