Use any courier service than DHL

Hi

I just wanted to inform you all that never use DHL to ship your goods specially from UK to Qatar. They just lost my Iphone 16gb 3gs which cost me around 3000 riyals to get it shipped from there. Apparently some of their own guys stole it and they claim that they lost it in the transit. Now how come a package that can be traced online be lost just like that?

Furthermore they are not going to give you anything back other than the shipping charges plus a 100 dollars which does not even constitute a third of my total cost.

Therefore I advise you all to use any other courier service other than DHL, because if you are getting expensive packages shipped, they are most probably gonna intentionally loose them and then give you just a 100 dollars back.

Thanks

I am sorry for your lost, but can i ask you something.... what if you have an a car accedint and your car is not insured what will happen? i will answer you will be paying cash to fix your can and the the part car and the insurance company will not even bother to accept you report, reight? its the same with DHL if you insured your shipment they will give you back the total value of the mobile + the freight cost. and insurace will not cost you more than 120QAR.FYI DHL is the company who importing the Nokia phons to Qatar and never got any problem,

I've been working with DHL for a while, and they aren't too bad. Aramex lost packages, and Fedex as well. So it is all the same. Its basic luck.

I just ordered something from that States that came in two boxes. The smaller box got lost, but they managed to relocate it in Germany. Once it arrived, I received it broken in two. The company didn't insure it, but DHL agreed the cover the cost of fixing the broken piece, Qr280.

If you are paying 3000 QRS for shipping approx. 500 GBP then it must be some size of box for just a phone !

Did you actually recieve the empty box ?? Have you got the waybill no. ? And Copy ?

DHL terms also include payment per SDR per kg for excess of US $100

Look my friend with no offence, and they would not steel it, you can lose your bagage if you are traveling with Qatar Airways do you think qatar airways will steel your bag? it is always hapening in the airports

I have been working in Qatar for the last 25 years and since then I'm using DHL.

I don't think this is really what have happened.

there lots of reasons to lose your mobile, but I'm sure if you have bought insurance you will fully compensate.

it is safe to pay a car from nasser bin khaled, but would you drive it without insurance ?

face it man, it is not DHL to be blamed I guess it is just a bad luck when you tried to save some money

Well yeah you should go with their terms and conditions, but if someone from their staff member says that it is safe and the package is secured even without the insurance, who would in their right state of mind spend extra money. Coz thats what happened to my shipper. He was assured by their staff that the package will be safely delivered.

And answering the second question. Imagine yourself confirming that you received a package at a certain warehouse of yours and then when its time to pass the package to the next location you cannot find it. Now whose fault is that? First you confirm that you received a package at a facility of yours and then you yourself admit that it is lost and cannot be found at the said warehouse.

Stop this blame game , they are doing very well around the globe , how you are so sure about that , one of them stole your phone , it might get really lost somewhere ... secondly they are responsible for that , they should give you some alternate ... anyways try .. !

yes I agree , we should go with there terms and conditions ... it depends on us , not them ...

DHL provides one of best services in Doha. If you comply with their terms and conditions, you will be protected. If you take risk, yes you have to pay for it.

Although it says in the site but if local perception of DHL is taken into account who would think that they will be able to loose it. That is the sole reason of my post so that other people don't make this mistake and choose a much safer or should I say reliable courier service. And yes this happened quite recently.

i sent a digital camera and one of their staff nicked it in Dubai. It shipped there and went no further.

Then they had the gall to say they weren't responsible beyond $100 and wouldn't refund the shipping cost either

It is clearly stated in their site and the terms of contract that they cover only up to 100 dollars of the package value if it is lost, you should have purchased insurance as you were shipping an expensive product.

idlegladiator did it happened just recently?

IT was sent from uk and not from here. So yeah if i was sending it from here i should have expected nothing less, but about uk i had different opinion which has drastically changed now. And we were under the impression that insurance helps when the item gets lost in the plane or something, not out of the DHL's own hands. I mean they themselves say that they received it at a certain station and lost it.
