for being just a bit too full of itself.

I won't post the whole article; you can read it for yourself:

http://www.thechicagodope.com/2011/03/24/u-s-warns-uae-for-being-just-a-...

What's funny (or maybe serious) is that this is a post on a comedy/satirical website, akin to The Onion, which is being taken seriously by some Emerati commentators(at the bottom of the article).
The actual satirical point of the piece is firmly aimed at the US, and is in fact praising the UAE.

What's the reason for the confusion? -

Sense of humour not crossing cultural borders?
A lack of such speach in the UAE press to fully understand the context?
A general heightened sensetivity in the Arab world and a rush to takde offence?
Or just stupid people commenting who've never had a funny bone?

The irony is that I will be probably be accused of making fun of Arabs by just posting this! Irony upon irony. And so it goes full circle.

If I am not mistaken, you are the 2nd person to tell 'Mozaism' to consult 'a' doctor in the past two days.

Do your work in a capsule making factory ?

I certainly don't mean you have any 'axe' to grind !

When it comes to their own selves but can easily be the funny man when it comes to others.I suppose it's always better for them to have people to laugh with, and others to laugh at, rather than be laughed at. Irony at it's best(or worst)!

Laughing about ourselves is always easy... don´t they dare to laugh about us!! (worldwide principle of behaviour!) LOL

Adey, your insight is amazing! You are my hero!

Let me know when you start bashing yourself..I would like to be present to profit, consciously and unconsciously, from your infinite knowledge of the human psyche.

And cheese is not too bad a smell...considering what our olfactory system is violated with usually.

Yes, you are surely right.

Now I just have to work out if I consciously or unconsciously hate muslims?

And, have I made a conscious or unconscious decision to live in the middle east for the past 9 years as a result of my hatred - be it conscious or unconscious?

Which begs the question; Do I consciously or unconsciously hate myself for putting myself in that situation?

Which must mean that:

I hate muslims, I hate myself but I like living in the middle east even though I detest being anywhere around myself and having to live amongst muslims.........or something like that!

I feel an urge to Bash myself!

adey - your car needs a wash! And you smell of cheese!

I wonder if the Mods delete a thread on bashing grounds if we just bashed ourselves?

Food for thought?

Simple..one needs a keener intellect to discern satire from serious reportings that is probably lacking in the average arab or are they too gullible?

Satire? Humour? Laughing at oneself? In this part of the world? Are you delusional????

Plus, you hate Muslims...:P

We Arabs find it funny laughing at westerners, Indians and other lower class people but when the joke is on us even in an ironic way our pride gets in the way. Being able to laugh at yourself should be a human right!
