US has carried out secret surveillance

STOCKHOLM – People linked with the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm have performed surveillance activities in Sweden without the knowledge of the host nation's authorities, a government officials said Saturday.

The surveillance has been going on since 2000, but Swedish authorities are still not aware of how widespread the practice was, said Justice Minister Beatrice Ask.

"It seems as though we haven't been fully informed and that's not good," Ask said.

It seems US can do anything with impunity in any country. Now when someone calls upon others to kill the US soldiers in Iraq, it creates a lot of controversy. How ironic??

Eh ? Who is occupying Stockholm????

The occupying soldiers are legitimate target for attacks, so why should it be a problem when someone says the troops in Iraq need to be killed.

All these things become a sure recipe for trouble. In India, in many cities there was a survey done among muslims by these americans - they were asked a lot of controversial questions - what was the need for it? YOu want to stir up trouble and then expect everyone to keep quiet.

it's their job.

And stealth .....it's really quite amusing how you turn everything towards Iraq or Afghanistan.

How can it be ironic when the two examples you choose have not the remotest thing to do with each other....how do you get from embassy surveillance to killing US soldiers in Iraq?

I think I will have a go:

Ben & Jerry's have promoted a new Humus flavoured Ice Cream at their headquarters in Seattle.

Now when someone calls upon others to kill the US soldiers in Iraq, it creates a lot of controversy. How ironic??

What surprises me is not that its being carried out, but people are shocked by it..

Suspicious individuals were registered and photographed and the data was forwarded to the US embassy in Oslo, which analysed and added them its SIMAS (Security Incident Management Analysis System) database.

According to a news report by Norway's TV2 on Thursday, hundreds of Norwegians are registered in the database. The report also alleged that there are SDU units containing similar data at all American embassies.

Note: Last sentence.... :O)
