Those who are surprised are those who have never been in a war situation.

What makes things worse is that young men are sent into battle with gung-ho attitude and many without the mental strength to face up to the realities of war..

You can't expect rational thinking from a soldier in a war zone. Just my opinion.

There were never any days of honour amongst men or chivalry, those are products of Hollywood, Bollywood, Lollywood, books, etc. Fact of the matter is wars have always been gruesome, violent and masochistic and I don't understand why people are surprised by that now?

The main problem lies with Hollywood, Bollywood, Lollywood and others who glorify war.

War is hell. Gone are the days of honour amongst men and chivalry.

jeroneb, I got you. I did not mean to bash any particular Nation. I would have posted 'how cruel are those' but there is no option for editing. I read that news in Washington Post and was bit worried on the issue. I can understand the fight against terrorism and do agree that war crimes are committed by the soldiers every where but to do such things (irrespective of any Nationality)on civilians is cruelty.

So let me get this straight. The government creates a job that basically says "We'll pay uneducated high school drops outs to shoot people who don't look like you or speak your language" and you're surprised that some psycho's are attracted to this position?

Its even worst with the opposite. They kill for the mere un holistic provocative

Dear cherukkan,

The only thing that bothers me, is that I read in your post that it is THE American soldiers who are cruel. Like I said, there are outlaws in every layer of society and they will be punished, it is good that those fact come to the surface.

In many hostile situations war crimes are committed and not only by Americans.

Take care

jeroenb, There is a link from Washington Post in the thread. Please read it carefully before shouting on someone. This is not a personal comment from anybody behind the PC and is already published in many on line newspapers and the news bulletins of various Radio Stations.

Every society has its outlaws. I think they will be prosecuted and sentenced.

Tell me, what did India do during world war II and major humanitary disasters? In many occasions it are the United States to take the lead because nobody else dares. Have India send some troops to (for example) Darfur in order to restore order and stop the killings and rape. Its easy to talk bad about the United States from behind your PC in a safe place.

One more feat of this nation on its way to DEMOCRACY AND PEACE in the world?

Shame...

Such are the horrors of war.

It is a good thing that they have been found out and will be prosecuted. Let us hope that if the stories are true, then they will be found guilty and given hefty sentences.
