UPS crash Dubai- had a option to land in Doha
The pilots of a US cargo plane that crashed in Dubai were told they could land in Doha after a fire warning but decided to return to Dubai instead, the civil aviation authorities said.
"The crew were offered by Bahrain Air Traffic Control to land at Doha, but they decided to return... to Dubai, then they experienced cockpit visibility" and communications problems, the statement said.
Soon after takeoff, the pilots reported smoke in the cockpit and difficulty in maintaining altitude, and attempted to fly back to Dubai Airport to land, a previous GCAA statement said.
But the aircraft's approach was too high, and it flew over the airport and made a right turn before quickly shedding altitude and losing radar contact, less than an hour after takeoff, the GCAA statement said.
Both the pilot and co-pilot of the Boeing 747-400 plane were killed when it crashed at a military base on the outskirts of Dubai on September 3.
well i heard from a frnds flies a-340 thers about 3 sec lag.
i did come across tht aircraft in a magazine.. the navigator sits below n front of the pilots with a glass window and a clear view ahead. if not mistaken Sudan has got few of them
captkhan: There is no perceptible lag from the time the pilot moves the stick, for rotation....
Russian's 20 seater aircraft has a navigator too, and still they are flying Old Machines, with some what good record over 1 year or so...
saadm. i was gonna say that about the side stick..how many sec's is the lag.. even though its FBW..
the Russians have put in lots of technology into there aircraft.
captkhan: Personally i don't like A330 . Lots of defects are coming in 330s world over..
Brit: once i flew in Tupelov and trust me i was amazed by the technology Russian's were using on that aircraft....
I have been on 777s also, but Airbus has a backdrop which is the " Side Stick "
*saeedkan.. well it's kinda easy i would say just to get a CPL from some were in Asia. but the ATPL needs a lot of head and if u want to be in an airline industry..lots of hrs and luck..
The Airbus A-300 is squirrelly, for sure.
Mandi
Forget Boeing and Airbus..
Just get a rating on a Tupelov and then you really will feel something between your lgs..
saadm u will love Boeing .. not tht i don't like Airbus.. its an good aircraft.. hopefully shld do a A330 rating next year..
but Boeing makes u feel tht u have something between ur legs..lol
Well i won't comment on this.... I am An Airbus Pilot...
*mandi - i have tht sticker on my pilot bag. its as follows
"if ain't Boeing,i am not going"
If it's not Boeing, I'm not going! Saeed, UPS 747-400 crew are among the most experienced you can get.
Mandi
yeah thts the diff between the Boeing's & Airbus.
but TIHY also works with NITYU, i have done it before, Airbus lacks this feature but UYTHN900 is also a good system
Captkhan: Yep Boeing Aircrafts have EICAS, we Airbus Pilots Call It ECAM...
ECAM, Does the same, shows Aircraft system And Lower ECAM is also there in Airbus Aircrafts
well we gotta wait for the outcome of the details from the FDR & CVR. then only we will know what had actually happened.
u mean EICAS. Boeing uses it on its aircraft which displays data concerning aircraft systems and also failures.
plane crash is my worst nightmare, specially after watching NAT geos plane crash investigation programs
It's stuff like this that fuels my fear of flying bad desicions on the part of pilots.
Then again, I'm not really sure what the best decision was. I'm not a pilot. That's probably just my fear of flying talking. :)
Captkhan: The conditions onboard when they declared Pan, Pan, Pan and made a steep vertical descend, no body can tell until they analyze the FDR, CVR then only the investigators can tell was there other warning to in the aircraft, How Many ECAM messaged were there???
