Untrained and careless drivers

Untrained and careless drivers

Traffic was disrupted after a trailer truck flipped over at the Gulf Cinema intersection in Najma at noon yesterday. No casualties were reported. Traffic policemen who rushed to the accident site said the driver might have negotiated the bend at a high speed fearing the traffic lights might turn red.

This is what happens when we have such untrained, unprofessional and poorly paid drivers around. Luckily nothing worse happened and it happened in a very busy area of Doha. There was no loss of lives but its a wake up call before something worse happens unless this drivers are taught to drive safely and within limits otherwise we may have a similar tragic situation like that in Abu Dhabi which happened a few days back.

Typhoon. It reminds me of the time that Air China plane crashed. Management were more concerned about covering up the airline name and its logo even before the passengers had gotten out!

Whats inside those containers and how they were loaded can shift the centre of gravity I think...but to be safe I always make sure to keep away from those long trailers especially on roundabouts.

and its indeed very suprising that this particular company whom this trailer belonged to were more then quick to remove the head unit of the vehicle and other company logos so the general public would not get to see that the trailer belonged to this particular unsafe company

other vehicle drivers should be extra careful when driving near or closer to this trailer trucks with or without containers on them. Some of this transport and logistics companies have a very bad mantainance and safety record for their out dated vehicles. Just noticed some of this companies even carry fancy tags like "wherever you go", "We deliver", etc but the truth is this companies dont train or guide their drivers properly

If a trailer flips its load when braking hard in routine traffic, then there is something seriously wrong with the loading and centre of gravity of the vehicle.

Maybe not entirely the fault of the trailer driver because if someone cuts in front of the trailer and the driver step hard on the break, this can cause the container to flip over. I saw this happen once at the Islamic Museum roundabout at the corniche.

Well the whole situation would have turned very tragic and sad if the containers on the trailers had to fall on a school bus, a mini bus carrying labourers or just cars. I suppose it was just luck that nothing worse happened or the driver would have ended up paying for his stupidity and carelessness for the rest of his life

Many cities around the world have fixed hours during which cargo vehicles, and trailers etc are not allowed to enter. Normally, such vehicles are only permitted at night after 12 midnight upto 6 am in the morning.

This should be adapted here as well.

i wasn't like this but some people push me to the limits

-opening the door at the signal and spitting.

-driving on the left side with speed 10 km /h

-letting the car drive them instead of driving the car.

- the road is empty and they are entering from it ,they refuse to move on because the F** signal is still open from the other side...and 15 cars are behind because of this stupid punk.

-waiting and slowing dowwwwwwwwwwwwwwn then in the last minute give a signal to the left and turn left at the same time .

- Karwa drivers are different and big issue.

-nissan pick up are also cousins of karwa drivers

The fault obviously lies with the traffic lights. If they had been green a little longer, this would not have happened.

I would not care much about bad drivers, it is upto traffic cops to deal with them.

May be their [ drivers' ] supervisors are forcing them to perform more hence driving fast.

If you're an experienced and professional driver, everything you see and encounter on the roads of Qatar is normal. You will just feel that there are unexperienced and unprofessional drivers around when you yourself has less experience in driving.

Eperienced drivers know how to avoid getting involved in these accidents. Learning to drive is just the start of the process, but driving defensively will make you a better driver. And that is ...EXPERIENCE.

Haha QDC

My friend was invited to a Qatari wedding once..

When he turned up something like 30% of the teenagers there were sporting a broken leg or some kind of injury from a car accident.

When he asked them if they might drive a bit slower in the future, they also said NO it wasn't my fault haha

I don't really think this will be a wake up call at all!

Remember the big crash the other day with the workers bus....

People die pretty much everyday on Doha's roads and nothing much is ever done about it!!

By anonymous• 6 Feb 2013 09:43

They should nationalise these drivers job. The locals always tell me they are very good drivers and that is why they can drive fast.
