if he/she has everything or can get everything, do what I do: he can buy anything off the market shelves, but get him/her something personalized. I get my dad log book from any fancy shamncy shop but I know he can go buy it himself anytime, so I get the shop to personliaze it for him, engrave his name or asomething, anything to make him/her feel the item is not just anything he could have gotten
and all his life he was living with that tiny little piece of his poor him.
