Unpleasant experience in Al-Emadi Hospital

I was at the Al-Emadi hospital to get a Follow-up check up.It was my third time in the same week.
Altough i satisfied by the behaviour, professionalism and good treatment of the doctor concerned,Dr Ahmed Sulaman, the same thing could not be most remotely applied to the other departments there especially the Pharmacy.
After seeing the doctor we were asked to sign on a paper to pay for the visit. After the receipt was handed to us,my husband noticed that it was written "First Visit" and they had charged the amount for first visit. But because we were not 100% sure about the exact amount,we thought it was Qr25 but they insisted it was QR50,so we submitted to their will, paid and advanced towards the pharmacy.
As we reached,we handed our prescription which required an Anti-biotics capsules for 3 days i.e 6 tablets total. The Pharmacist suddenly came forward saying he did not have the same medicine so he will give us another medicine but of the same composition. He said the one prescribed by doctor would not be enough and lifted up half packet of the medicine to show us.Suddenly we noticed that the pack had 7 capsules. We politely reminded him that 6 capsules were all that was required so why not give us the exact medicine doctor had prescribed rather than the other one.
After this he was little 'OFF' and replied saying "Why do you bother? If the medicines are more than required you can throw them away.Afterall the insurance will pay for it".With this statement and his attitude we were really surprised. After polite persuasion he handed the half packet of medicine towards the cashier. Now this Cashier entered the values and did not give us the receipt. After "Asking" for the receipt,we got it and looking at it we saw that she had increased the price of the medicine.Again my husband went and told the staff upon which he looked infuriated!!!!!! and said
"Ïts just a question of 10-15 QR and insurance will pay why are you bothered?" When my husband refused to comply with him and asked him to verify we found out that she had charged QR60 extra for that medicine.
We were not convinced. We both felt why are they waisting money and medicines like this?Yes the insurance will pay for it.But that does not mean it is for free.We have paid the insurance money for it.We work hard to earn. Also we feel as there are people in this world in many countries who cannot afford to buy medicines and die.Who gave us this rite to waste resourses to the maximum. No we should not keep doing this. This is a case of inethical behaviour. We have noticed this trend in many private hospitals in Qatar and there are seldom people who care to look into it.The customers are hardly bothered.
We were so shocked by the behaviour of those staff.when we asked for the receipt after the medicines have been purchased the cashier gave a blunt reply saying "Why do you need a receipt?"Whether we need a receipt or not is for us to decide not you.Who are you to decide for us just because it is inconvinient for you.
It was a very annoying and disappointing encounter.
The Staff did not seem sorry at all, they made such lame excuses. It is indeed a shame that such people have been hired by Al-Emadi Hospital, which is well reputed in Qatar.
I had a bad experience too..my first time there actually, and I didn't like their service especially the Pharmacy. We waited for long just for the issuance of the medicine..really bad service. They have incompetent staff and the Pharmacist doesn't even care with their customers. I won't go back in that hospital again.
up with the highest authority both at the hospital and also with your insurance company. What happened is criminal and is clearly a case of fraud and wastage.
