Unlicensed babysitter causing child's death

People need to heed these warnings.. Too many parents put their precious offspring in the hands of people they don’t know or don’t vet!

A Pakistani housewife is accused of causing the death of a two-year-old girl she was hired to look after, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

ZJ, 31, a computer engineer and his wife hired a babysitter for their daughter AZ.

"My wife found a babysitter online. Her location was on the same street as us, in the Persian Cluster in International City,” ZJ told the court.

“On July 9, before going to work, we dropped our baby at the babysitter's flat and the babysitter sent me four pictures of my daughter on 'WhatsApp' to show me that she is fine,” he told the court.

On July 12, they received three phone calls from the babysitter.

"The babysitter told me in the first call that the baby is crying. I told her that we are on our way to pick her up. After two minutes she called and said that the baby is tired and unconscious. In the third call she told us that she is breathing with difficultly," said the baby's mother, KA, 22, a Moroccan.

When the parents reached, they were shocked to see their daughter unable to breathe. They rushed her to a nearby clinic.

The clinic tried to give the girl oxygen, but as they did not have an emergency section, the baby was rushed to Latifa Hospital.

"In the hospital the baby was put in the intensive care unit and we were told that her condition is very critical. The babysitter was asked by the doctor if she fell or had eaten something. The babysitter said that she fell from the sofa to the floor when she went to bring her some water," the mother told the court.

The following morning, the parents were told that the baby passed away.

They admitted to the court that the babysitter was not licensed.

An autopsy on the body and forensic reports showed two bruises. One was on the forehead and the other on the back of the head that could be caused by a fall to the floor.
