UAE Male Rape Case concluded

Emiratis jailed for raping youth

A court in Dubai, in the UAE, has jailed two men for 15 years for the abduction and sexual assault of a 15-year-old French-Swiss boy.
The men, one of whom is HIV positive, took the teenager to the desert and raped him at knifepoint.

Again the full story, ( which weve all heard about previously), is on the BBC Website. I was suprised at the 15 year sentences. I agree with it wholeheartedly, it should be longer in my eyes, but a recent case of rape in Germany, invoving an American DJ, raping and knowingly infecting 4 women, only got him a 10 year sentence. ( Rape and Actual Bodiy Harm).

At least theres been some justice for the poor lad. Good luck to the kid.

True PM. But I can't see the general prision community ANYWHERE accepting these guys, especially the one with AIDS>

Does anyone know if rapists and child molesters are segregated from the rest of the prison community here? If they aren't then 15 years IS a death sentence, and not a particularly nice one.

And what about the people the covered up the fact that the rapist was HIV+? I believe they should be punished because there are drugs that if taken within a certain amount of time of possible infection can affectively block infection.

This boy's life was taken from him, if he is HIV+ how can he ever have children? Marry? They gave him a death sentence, albeit a slow and painful one. All they get is 15 years?? I see no justice in this.

I guess my view could have a bit of a legal background to it.

The minimum term is 10 years for rape (it's 5 in the UK) however what they did was gang rape which in my eyes serves for a higher duration.

Add to the fact that this was paedophilia, which itself serves as a minimum term of 15 (10 in the UK)

And FURTHER add to it that just as PM said, he was infected and knowingly did what he did in his condition.

Now, in the Gulf, HIV is something very serious as the nation tries to stop the spreading very quickly.

My estimation was a minimum term of 30, but if you ask me, life time would have been better. (No probation or good behaviour taken into account)

..........but justice served nevertheless. Nothing can change the past, but at least they didn't get away Scott free.

not served in my eyes.

Yes 15 years is good, but they should have gotten 30 minimum

i my opinion such a case should incur capital punishment. they basically gave the kid a death sentence by infecting him with hiv. They should be put death and an example should be made.

Oh!!!!

I thought u are surprised at the number of years being more than ur expectation.

Good to hear the outcome of the case. If we have few such judgements, this part of the world will be much better than it is now.

I have commented previously in a seperate thread that if laws like that are made stringint.. there would be less sexual crimes.. I mean in ME.

Im fully aware of the different law situations my friend, im just suprised at the 15 year sentence. I agree with it, im just suprised it was passed.

Maybe its being aimed as a deterrent to other potential offenders.

why should u u start comparing the teo cases. Two countries and two different laws. Atleast one action for raping expats. Sometimes you do not see anything happening or worse the poor victim is deported after being humilated, jailed and lashed

Justice has been served. I hope the boy can start some kind of closure and move on with his life inshallah..
