HI everyone. Our admin in the office told that I won't be able to travel to Dubai with my Qatar RP recently been issued. It is required to reside in Qatar for 6 months before possibility to enter DUbai with Qatar RP. However, if residency is only for 12 months, then you cant enter Dubai either as residency should be for at least 6 months! At least it was like that with Kuwait RP... Could anyone help me with this?

RP has to have a minimum validity of 3 months but the first part isnt correct as I have traveled to dubai 2 times in 2 months since I got my RP here. The requirements are you should have been a GCC resident for least a year and your eligibility to get an on arrival.

FOI :From emirates website:

Visa Issuance:

Holders of a Residence Permit issued by Qatar can obtain a visa on arrival for a max. stay of 30 days, provided:

- residing in a GCC country for at least 1 year; and

- a Resident Permit is valid for at least 3 months on arrival; and

- holding confirmed return tickets. Fee: AED 185.-.

For nationals of India, if profession stated in the passport is: businessman, director, doctor, engineer or accountant.

Additional Information:

All visitors must:

- hold documents for their next destination;

- have sponsor in the UAE to cover their stay. A visa:

- included in an expired passport, combined with a valid passport, can be accepted for travel;

- can be applied for (and issued through internet (e-Visa)), prior to arrival, if arriving at Dubai Airport (DXB).

Minors:

If named in a parent's passport and being of a visa required nationality, the minor is also required to be named in the visa. If the minor is not covered by the visa they will not be allowed entry. Furthermore, the minor can only be accepted for travel provided that they are accompanied by the holder of the passport.

Not all UAE RP holder can travel to Qatar or other GCC country, only those RP that are professional levels like, Doctors, engineers,teachers etc etc are allowed to get visa upon arrival.

This could be the case if you are Qatar RP.

If you really want to travel, get a visit visa from UAE embassy here in qatar in advance.

You can travel. My friend travelled to Dubai after 2 weeks of the issuance of his Qatar RP. He even travelled with Fly Dubai and there was no problem encountered at all. He took visa on the immigration counter and there was no single question.

This is a great irony that all of the travellers do face. As per Dubai rules, your visa must be at least 6 months from first issue and should have atleast 3 months validity before expiry. so when you are new in qatar, your window to travel is only 3 months in the first year.

however the above is theory - normally you can travel if you have been in other middle east countries and also your profession. I have travelled after one month of my visa stamping.

However the options are to take an advance visa before travel - any hotel in dubai that you are staying with can arrange the same or even emirates airlines. A bit of insurance is always better

regards
