As a part of the continuation for the efforts to reduce traffic accidents on Shamal road, spent by the Shamal Road Project Committee under the chairmanship of Col. Ali Muhammed Al Nuaimi, Director of the Shamal Security, The committee in coordination with Traffic and Patrols Department fixed two radars on Shamal road recently.

The newly fixed radars will seize the drivers violating the posted speed limit on the road. The committee has also reduced the allowed speed limit on Shamal road from 120 km/hr to 80 km/hr for private vehicles and from 80 km/ hr to 60 km / hr for trucks and heavy vehicles. This change has been applied in some areas where the construction works are going on and extensions are made.

Herewith, The Shamal Road Project Committee urges the Shamal road users to adhere by the posted speed limit and to not to cross it in order to ease the traffic movement on the road and avoid any traffic accident.

Pretty sure speed limits are a good idea, and they need more trafic police. I never thought i'd say that lol, but this country needs stricter laws on the road.

Driving on Shamaal Road was once a real delight but now appears to be marred by this speed limit!
