Horrific. And yet people, locals and expats alike think traffic rules are made for 'others' and not them. I do hope no one was seriously injured, though looking at these photos, that looks doubtful.
At least two people are saying same thing . One of my friend called me to tell me my car was on qatar living and i decided to give a short testimony . Hence only 27 minutes member .
If u tell me how to post a photo i'll send one of my car after it had been dumped close to the accident place .
Not read all the comments but this accident happened on May 2nd 2008 around noon time . I was in the Jeep waiting at the traffic light when the tanker coming from left lost control . He smashed two or three others cars before finshing in mine and the Karwa bus . By miracle nobody was seriously injured (in fact i went home the same afternoon). Plate number of my car was 98742.
There were four people in this thread that told you this accident happened a while back. Myself, Amoud, aawara, and Homealone.
Now, check MY post again. I QUITE PLAINLY said that you didn't even know when the accident occurred.
"You yourself say you don't know when it occurred, but just that a "friend" told you that it happened today."
Either way, I'm done here. My apparent attempts to discredit you have failed...either that or I'm just bored with you and I actually have a life beyond arguing on the internet.
All you have to do now is tell me I'm wrong again and since I don't plan on responding, you get to be "right" in front of everyone, since it seems to be very important to you.
u check my post again.. i never mentioned that this accident occurred yesterday .. cos i don't have a sufficient proof.. and i clearly mentioned my friend passed me this. May be he lied or u.. and whom should i believe first ? of course my friend and not a stranger like u.. sahh ?
SO u wer the one hu argued this was very old ..so das y i told if u say something, cite the proof instead posting pix.. so that i can confirm that !!!! and whether u leave the Mushereib area around 4:30am for work at Ras Laffan every day that is one of my business !!
yes, I posted another pic that I took of the accident about 8 or 9 months ago as has been stated by other posters here too.
As for proof. I don't need any. I have nothing to gain from proving what date the picture was taken, although I suppose I could post a screen capture of my computer that shows when the picture was downloaded to it but even that could be doctored. I could tell you that I leave the Mushereib area around 4:30am for work at Ras Laffan every day and that it doesn't get light out until close to 6am and by then I'm at work (meaning I could not have taken this picture during daylight hours today) and I could even have some of the guys I work with log in to verify that but again it would mean nothing...what would you want for proof? A picture of the newspaper for that day in the frame with the accident? I just wasn't thinking that far ahead...sorry.
Why do you care so much? The accident happened. Nobody is denying that. You yourself say you don't know when it occurred, but just that a "friend" told you that it happened today. Someone else said it was about 6 months ago and someone else said it was "ages ago". I'm telling you I took a picture of it as we drove by it just after I came to Doha which was early May last year. I don't particularly care if you believe me or not because it makes no difference either way.
I think the tanker was going too fast through the signal and flipped on the jeep. I guess when they are almost full of water the sudden shift of weight is too much for the truck.
MD, I am that poster reminding everyone of the speed trap. Thank you for bringing me into this, your usual means of posting.
The speed limit on that road is 80, and many people get a ticket for doing 85 - 90 as most roads are 100.
Who knows MD, next time you might get lucky and an accident of this magnitude can also involve a bus load of kids jumping around. You also seem to think that is no big deal as well if I do remember correctly, and I am having the decency to be direct with this comment.
And then there was this other member of QL who warns of speed traps instead of telling the people to obey the traffic rules and speed limits. As long as there is this attitude I indeed appreciate it when more and more cars get destroyed and more and more undisciplined drivers are removed from the roads.
"I posted a statistical fact. There are at least three cars less on Doha's roads!"
maybe so, but you also said "CUTE"
There is nothing "CUTE" about being in an accident where someone gets hurt.
Maybe English is not your first language, in which case you are forgiven, but do remember that whilst you want to be given respect and not be judged, then you should also show respect to others.
I feel truly sorry for whoever was in that car, and I really hope no-one lost their life.
in Highway Engineering, it is not even recommended but even prohibited. Really surprised to see that condition there at Landmark underpass intersection!
"dgoodrebel will always be the rebellious good one"
Look at the side view, where the driver would be sitting. He would probably survive that. Unless his legs fell off.
in anycase, i think most imprtant question here is: how the heck did the truck manage to get in that position. i mean that is some pretty amazing driving there.
MD....if you think that a car accident is 'cute' then you deserve to be judged.....you wouldn't be so quick to pass it off as 'cute' if it was you on a life support in the Hamad after being cut out of that wreck...get a grip man!
I dont get it.. How did that happen. This was so close to the roundabout. Was the Tanker preparing him for a drag race or did the wrangler want a race with the tanker. This is so strange !!
This was ages ago wasnt it? If not there was an accident about 6 months ago exactly the same, involving a Karwa bus but I dont quite remember if it was a water truck or another micro-bus that was involved in exactly the same place.

hope all the drivers don't hurt much,.. they are all humans...!!
What an accident.. wheeew..
Be safe everyone...
Boggg#%@!
ok Francois.

I think you have me confused with someone who gives a sh1t.
one of the victims as if you see only my Jeep on the photos , there were also three others cars involved .
Again , thanks god , nobody was seriously injured .

So enjoy life as today could be your last day .
This accident happened in February, I have 3 photos to prove it.
This is a very special bit of driving. It is really quite difficult to turn one of these over. I have a great idea....How about slowing down???
get a life dude.. simply arguing for silly things... yukk !

Tankers are dangerous ...when half full....
I have pictures of this from last year when I first arrived in Doha. This accident was in about May or June of 2008.
I think the tanker was going too fast through the signal and flipped on the jeep. I guess when they are almost full of water the sudden shift of weight is too much for the truck.

amazing photo... the police are allowing to take a picture of this accident?
nice clarity photo...
Its bit old may be one month before
The tanker flipped and fell over the jeep...as it could happen at "tilted" round abouts....
the "swaying" water can pull such tricks...especially if the tanker-driver is inexperienced.

but, by means of accident like this - NO

KEEP MOVING!!!
Important question number 2.
What made them decide to feed the hose through the bumper of the wrangler? i mean was it an actual decision?
these are questions that need answered

"more than 3 cars less in Doha roads. Would you encourage more accidents, MD?"
"I don't have to, dms. This will happen automatically due to the careless driving habits."
So true. Haha. Sad but true. People here really can't drive for sh*t.
And then there was this other member of QL who warns of speed traps instead of telling the people to obey the traffic rules and speed limits. As long as there is this attitude I indeed appreciate it when more and more cars get destroyed and more and more undisciplined drivers are removed from the roads.

more than 3 cars less in Doha roads. Would you encourage more accidents, MD?
"dgoodrebel will always be the rebellious good one"
You are right, English is my 20th language, and I learnt that "cute" means "nice". I think it is nice to have three cars less in the streets of Doha.
MD,.............

"dgoodrebel will always be the rebellious good one"
i just remembered my husband told me before that its not pretty good to have a traffic light by the underpass.so i think this is the reason why...
I'm guessing that the black box that has been pasted over the images at the bottom of the jeep is most likely a body (or two).
Just another day on the mean streets of Doha.
Look at the side view, where the driver would be sitting. He would probably survive that. Unless his legs fell off.
in anycase, i think most imprtant question here is: how the heck did the truck manage to get in that position. i mean that is some pretty amazing driving there.

it's not a petrol tank, but water. Is it?
