TRAFFIC RULES NEGLECTED

drsajidh123

DEAR QL FRIENDS

NOWADAYS ITS BECOME HEADACHE DRIVING IN DOHA ROADS. ESPECIALIY AT ROUNDABOUTS AND CROSS ROADS. NOBODY FOLLOWS ANY TRAFFIC RULES. NO INDICATORS NOTHING. AND THE BLAME IS FOR PEOPLE WHO FOLLOWS TRAFFIC RULES. BECAUSE OF THESE PEOPLE OTHERS WHO FOLLOW THE CORRECT RULES CANNOT DRIVE.

I WAS AMAZED ON PEOPLE GOING ROUNDABOUT STRAIGHT THROUGH THE FIRST TRACK OR INNER TRACK THAT IS SPEED TRACK. WHEN PEOPLE CATCHES THE MIDDLE TRACK FOR LEFT TURN THESE PEOPLE WHO ENTERED THE ROUND ABOUT IN SPEED TRACK WILL COME AND HIT. AND THEY START SHOUTING ALSO. NO INDICATORS ON TURNING ON CROSS ROADS WRONG SIDES ETC. I THING STARTED HAPPENING QUITE RECENTLY WHEN THE NUMBER OF LICENCE HOLDERS INCREASED.

THE DOHA TRAFFIC ATHOURITY SHOULD SEE IN TO THIS OR SHOULD GET A RULE. CATCH AND FINE OR SEND THEM BACK TO TRAINING DEPENDING ON THE SERIOUSNESS AFTER SUSPENDING THIER LICENCES.....

Ok for the hell of it lets have a RA with 4 exits...Right, Straight, Right and U-turn, so lets say again

lane 1 right and straight

lane 2 straight and left right

lane 3 left right as in around and right and u-turn

And tht indicates the lane 3 is not allowed to go straight as tht cause the traffic problems.

spybot...you said first: (for ease of ref. my comments in bracket)

Lane 1 - Right and Straight (right lane)

Lane 2 - Straight and left (Center lane)

lane 3 - Left and u-turn (Left Lane)

Now read the conclusion by fubar on your video link (in bracket relating it to ur lane numbering) and if u agree:

Turning left? Use the left lane. (lane 3)

Turning right? Use the right lane. (Lane 1)

Going straight? Use any lane. (Lane 1, 2 & 3- No left turn on Lane 2).

Thats what I said. No left turn from center lane. 3rd pic in my link also shows the same. Arrow marks show traffic can go straight for all lanes and left turn for left and right turn for right lanes only...:)

I too have UAE license , the same rule is not valid here cause in Dubai the only places u find round about are inside intl city and outskirts , hardly even areas shindaga tunnel where that logic is valid, but in Doha round about are everywhere , the same rule of Dubai cannot be logically valid at all. This has been the rule in Doha since ages

No it doesn't

Look for yourself!

http://www.dohapress.com/portal/index.php/archive/57-all-local-news/15967-traffic-expert-urges-extra-care-when-negotiating-roundabouts

“In a three-lane roundabout the LEFT lane can either turn LEFT OR go STRAIGHT,” he said, noting “when the vehicle in the left lane goes straight it exits into the left lane after the roundabout.

The MIDDLE lane can only go STRAIGHT and as such it exits into the right lane.”

“The vehicle in the right lane has no option but to yield to the vehicle exiting from the middle lane. If the right lane vehicle does not yield and there is an accident then the right lane vehicle will be at fault,”

.. my friends in QL, in my opinion, richard2011 and drsajid123, have the same point and both were correct in explanation as i read their comments, in some cases some car drivers commit those mistakes coz sometimes they are trapped inside the lanes in which they were not supposed to be in that lane... so they have to manuever to save their way...then they broke the rules... (pls. correct me if im wrong)

I suggest you read the website you linked to :-0

http://www.gov.pe.ca/tir/duallane

Right Turns:

- Vehicles turning right MUST be in the RIGHT-HAND LANE. They must signal right and maintain the signal until they have exited the roundabout.

Going Straight:

- Vehicles going straight can be in the LEFT - OR RIGHT-hand lanes. They must not signal before entering the roundabout. They should signal right before exiting the roundabout.

Left Turns:

- Vehicles turning left or performing a U-turn MUST be in the LEFT-HAND lane. They must signal left before entering the roundabout and signal right before exiting the roundabout

Spybot you are wrong! You can only TURN LEFT from the LEFT LANE and you can only TURN RIGHT in the RIGHT LANE, you can go STRAIGHT in any LANE!

Thanks spybot - as that video shows, it's really simple, even for the simplest of people to understand!

Turning left? Use the left lane.

Turning right? Use the right lane.

Going straight? Use any lane.

Really, really simple for a normal person to understand.

In what parallel universe is it safe to turn left from the middle lane AND say that it's okay to go straight from the left lane?

Just think about it for, gee, 10 seconds - if I'm going straight from the left lane, and you are turning left from the middle lane, OF COURSE there is a risk of collision.

If you are turning left, use the left lane, and only the left lane.

By happygolucky• 25 May 2013 14:43

spybot...you mean to say from lane 2 i.e. the lane in center you can turn left. Don't think so.

See the third pic in the link. All lanes go straight but left lane, closest to the r/a can only be used to go left also and the farthest lane can only be used to go right also..same as in the link by richard says.:)

I still see capital letters as if I am a far sighted or near sighted... One thing in driving " don't drive when you cannot anymore see clearly the roadsigns... What is the purpose of a license when you are prone to accidents...

By spybot• 25 May 2013 14:14

LC not all have markings hence u have too know how it is suppose to work....let alone each having its own rules....

By LoveCanada• 25 May 2013 14:11
LoveCanada

My advise to everyone is to follow the road markings as each R/A in Qatar has its own rules.

By spybot• 25 May 2013 14:00
spybot

OMG, I am amaized how many of u actually have no clue how a RA works including the person tht posted the OP capital letters and all....yeah yeah I know u gonna ask wht makes me the expert and here it is, one of the courses I actually teach ppl is defensive driving. Negotiating a RA each lane can only go two ways.

Lane 1 - Right and Straight

Lane 2 - Straight and left

lane 3 - Left and u-turn

And that is working from right to left as we driving. scary how some1 actually bosts abt doing his test 15yrs ago and for all tht time he has been doing it wrong and trust me those rules has never changed.

I HAVE BEEN A HOLDER OF UAE LICENCE WHERE THE RULES ARE MORE STRICT THAN QATAR. I HAVE BEEN SAFE ON MY ROADS TILL NOW. AND I FOLLOW THE RULES AND ROAD MRKINGS ON THE ROADS. IF U WANA FOLLOW U FOLLOW OR FOLLOW THE GT NEWS... THATS UP TO YOU.

Idiots like this drsajith has spoiled the basic traffic rules in Qatar who think they know better,, but are really ignorant of the basic logic even,, and here I see this guy adamant inspite of being advised of the official ruling on round about by Richard,,

drsajidh...I guess its time you give up on your understanding of how the traffic should move in the left & middle lane on a r/a. And if you are referring to road markings...it would be interesting if you can name that r/a where it is so as I never look at the road markings and just follow how it should be. May be the traffic deptt. can be notified of this error, if at all it is there.

YES BOXIE WHAT U TOLD IS WRIGHT . WE SHOULD NOT TAKE RIGHT FROM MIDDLE LANE. IF SOME BODY DOES THIS IT WILL LEAD TO ACCIDENT FROM THE PERSON FROM 3RD LANE IF GOES STRAIGHT..

THE PROBLEM AS U TOLD IS INDICATOR. NO BODY PUTS THIS AS THEN THE PERSON BEHIND CAN BE ALERT

By drsajidh123• 25 May 2013 13:06
drsajidh123

MY DEAR FRIENDS RICHRD

U DO NOT HAVE TO GO WHERE I GOT TRAINING... I HAVE NOT TOLD THE THINGS SIMPLY. I TOLD YOU CAN REFER ROAD MARKINGS THE RULES ARE ACCEPTED THROUGH OUT GCC AND IF WETHER 15 YEARS OR 25 YEARS.

MIDDLE IS NOY ONLY FOR STRAIGHT U CAN GO LEFT ALSO...

MUST PRACTICE IS:

3RD LANE THAT IS THE RIGHT MOST LANE ONLY FOR RIGHT

THE FIRST LANE ONLY FOR U TURN

1ST LINE ARE FOR U TURN AND LEFT

2ND LINE FOR STARIGHT AND LEFT

3RD LINE FOR RIGHT AND STRAIGHT

ANY WAY THANKS FOR YOU LINK... BUT THANKS IF U COULD LOOK AT THE ROAD MARKINGS SOMEWHERE IN DOHA IF YOU GO OUT.. WHAT IF IAM SIMPLY TELLING. MIGHT BE THERE MIGHT BE PEOPLE IN TRAFFIC ATHORITY WITH DIFFERENT OPENIONS.

By anonymous• 25 May 2013 13:05
anonymous

let me phrase it again

3RD LINE FOR RIGHT AND STRAIGHT; BUT SOME FROM MIDDLE LANE ALSO TAKE RIGHT

By anonymous• 25 May 2013 13:04
anonymous

one thing what i did not like or understand...

some people from the middle lane (from roundabout) go right turn instead of taking the 3rd lane...this is very dangerous

looks like ur the one at fault go back and learn

By anonymous• 25 May 2013 12:57

2nd is for straight right...but if u want to go left or right from the straight, then it is always advisable to use the signal so that the driver can get alerted that you want to go right or left and he slows down giving u the way if he is a kind hearted and patience driver else if not, then face it...ROFL...:)))

By abdulgaffar• 25 May 2013 12:55

:O)

By drsajidh123• 25 May 2013 12:43
drsajidh123

RICHARD

STARTING FROM LEFT THE TRACKS ARE COUNTED 1 2 AND 3.

1ST LINE ARE FOR U TURN AND LEFT

2ND LINE FOR STARIGHT AND LEFT

3RD LINE FOR RIGHT AND STRAIGHT

SO 2ND LINE OR MIDDLE IS NOT ONLY FOR STARIGHT BUT FOR LEFT ALSO.

IF U HAVE DOUBTS PLEASE REFER TO ROAD MARKINGS IN DOHA

By anonymous• 25 May 2013 12:43
