Traffic law enforcement

Something I rarely get to see in Qatar. Thursday morning drive to work on C-ring road, and I see this Toyota Landcruiser ride over the pavement from the main road, and cross into the service road. The drivers intent was to re-enter the main road near Subway petrol station and cut-in near the signal, thus avoiding a 5 minute wait in traffic at the expense of inconveniencing others near the Subway signal.

No sooner had he crossed the pavement, a red police vehicle got on his tail, and pulled him over. He was made to exit the vehicle and was booked while standing on the pavement. He looked like an asian driver with arab kids on a school run. I would have loved to see the previous two Landcruiser drivers who did the same booked as well (they looked like locals).

Anyway, it's good to see some traffic law enforcement at last. Needless to say, the idiots on the slip road continued cutting into traffic in front of the Subway / Petrol station, despite the fact that there was a cop car behind them with flashing lights.

From what I understand cops did not stop locals but were waiting for some asean to do it and then sprang into action to deliver justice. Send out wrong message to allow locals to violate and expats to face charges.
